That swim came on the heels of four gold medals and a bronze at the 2017 World Junior Championships, which included a world junior record in the men\u2019s 200 fly.<\/p>\n<p>He solidified his claim as the first butterfly favorite in the post-<strong>Michael Phelps<\/strong> era with a slew of continental medals. He took down Phelps\u2019 10-year-old world record in the 200 fly at the 2019 World Championships.<\/p>\n<p>All that potential came to fruition for the 21-year-old at the Tokyo Olympics in the summer of 2021. He <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/olympics-hungarys-kristof-milak-blasts-field-for-gold-in-200-butterfly\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">dominated the men\u2019s 200 fly<\/a> in an Olympic record of 1:51.25. He holds the four fastest times in history in that event. Milak added <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/olympics-caeleb-dressel-set-world-record-in-100-fly-to-win-gold\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">silver in the 100 fly<\/a>, taking down the European record of <strong>Milorad Cavic<\/strong> that had stood since 2009 with a time of 49.68.
