THE Michigan men\u2019s swim team used their final dual meet to race in off-events for the most part, but still had no problem beating Michigan State, 172-103.<\/p>\n<p>This marked the final dual meet for the extremely talented Michigan senior class, which includes Connor Jaeger, Kyle Whitaker, Bruno Ortiz, Michael Wynalda, Sean Ryan, Hassaan Abdel Khalik and many more. It was an opportunity to see some of the swimmers get out of their comfort zones and step up in events that likely produced little pressure.<\/p>\n<p>With no 1000 freestyle on the program, Jaeger was a sprinter for a day. He won the 100 free with a 44.38 after finishing third in the 100 breast with a 57.04. He also showed some fast-twitch muscle speed with a 20.64 leadoff leg in the 200 free relay.<\/p>\n<p>Abdel Khalik is another distance swimmer who found himself racing in very short events today. He won the 50 free in 20.86, then finished second to Jaeger in the 100 free with a 44.81.<\/p>\n<p>Whitaker celebrated his final home dual meet with two individual event victories, the only person to do so today. He won the 100 breast with a 55.19 then took the 100 fly with a 48.39.<\/p>\n<p>Anders Nielsen and Bruno Ortiz did battle in the 200 free, with Nielsen finishing first with a 1:38.39 and Ortiz second in 1:38.52. Another close race happened in the 200 breast, with Kyle Duckitt winning with a 2:02.23 over John Wojciechowski\u2019s 2:02.98.<\/p>\n<p>Cameron Stitt had the most dominating swim of the day, winning the 400 IM by six seconds with a 4:00.37.<\/p>\n<p>Other winners from Michigan in the swimming events today include:<\/p>\n<p>Jason Chen in the 100 back with a 49.08;<\/p>\n<p>Bryan Hughes in the 200 fly with a 1:49.64;<\/p>\n<p>Dylan Bosch in the 200 back with a 1:50.36;<\/p>\n<p>Kyle Duckitt in the 200 breast with a 2:02.23;<\/p>\n<p>Justin Glanda in the 500 free with a 4:25.99.<\/p>\n<p>Timothy Farber won both diving events, scoring 324.68 points on the 1-meter springboard and 329.40 on the 3-meter.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/results\/published\/12666.asp\" target=\"_blank\">Results For: Michigan men vs. Michigan State<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>ANN ARBOR, Michigan, February 8.
