Short Course World Championships: Arno Kamminga Leads Loaded 100 Breast Final (Day Two Heat Sheets)<\/strong><\/p>\n

The second evening of finals at the Short Course World Championships in Abu Dhabi will include eight medal races plus two semifinals. The session will kick off with the women’s 200 medley relay, where the United States and Canada will face off after the two nations tied for gold in the 400 freestyle relay Thursday. The Americans were top seeds by six tenths, and they could have new swimmers joining the squad after\u00a0Katharine Berkoff<\/strong>,\u00a0Emily Escobedo<\/strong>,\u00a0Claire Curzan<\/strong> and\u00a0Kate Douglass<\/strong> swam in prelims.<\/p>\n

Next up, Russia’s\u00a0Kliment Kolesnikov<\/strong> and the USA’s\u00a0Shaine Casas\u00a0<\/strong>are tied for the top seed in the men’s 100 back final, while Russia’s\u00a0Svetlana Chimrova\u00a0<\/strong>holds down lane four for the women’s 200 fly, with Olympic gold medalist\u00a0Zhang Yufei\u00a0<\/strong>right next to her in lane five. Then, the much-anticipated men’s 100 breaststroke final features Olympic silver medalist\u00a0Arno Kamminga\u00a0<\/strong>as the top seed, with\u00a0Nic Fink<\/strong>, world-record holder\u00a0Ilya Shymanovich<\/strong>, Fabien Schwingenschlogl<\/strong> and Olympic bronze medalist\u00a0Nicolo Martinenghi<\/strong> all in contention.<\/p>\n

Russia’s\u00a0Nika Godun<\/strong> is seeded first in a wide-open women’s 50 breast final, before Olympic bronze medalist\u00a0Fernando Scheffer\u00a0<\/strong>takes center stage as top seed in the men’s 200 free. That final features four other Tokyo finalists: South Korea’s Hwang Sunwoo<\/strong>, British Olympic silver medalist\u00a0Duncan Scott<\/strong>, the USA’s\u00a0Kieran Smith<\/strong> and Lithuania’s\u00a0Danas Rapsys<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The day’s two semifinals include the women’s 100 free, where\u00a0Siobhan Haughey\u00a0<\/strong>is the top seed, and the men’s 100 fly, led by\u00a0Noe Ponti<\/strong>. The women’s 100 back final sees Sweden’s\u00a0Louise Hansson<\/strong> in lane four, with\u00a0Kira Toussaint<\/strong>, Rhyan White<\/strong>,\u00a0Kylie Masse\u00a0<\/strong>and Berkoff all very much in medal contention.
