PULLMAN, Wash., Feb. 8. THE Washington State University women\u2019s swim team ended the regular season with a victory at home over two club teams in the Cougar Invitational Saturday. <\/p>\n
The Cougars finished with 133 points, while the Spokane Area Swimming Athletes scored 67 points and the Tri-City Channel Cats had 46.<\/p>\n
WSU used the Cougar Invitational to prepare for the Pac-10 Championships coming up at the end of February.
\n\u201cI was really happy with our performance,\u201d WSU Head Coach Erica Quam said. \u201cWe did a good job setting up for the Pac-10\u2019s.\u201d<\/p>\n
Seniors Becca Cohen and Lindsay Henahan, and freshman Jane Copland led the Cougars with victories in two events each. Cohen, a distance swimmer from Portland, Ore., finished first in the 200 free (1:55.81) and 500 free (5:07.89) and second in the 100 (55.09).<\/p>\n
\u201cBecca had a good meet,\u201d Quam said. \u201cShe continues to go faster in the 500 free.\u201d Henahan finished first in the 100 free (53.34) and 100 butterfly (57.39). Copland swam to victories in the 200 breaststroke (2:20.53) and the 200 individual medley (2:10.36).<\/p>\n
\u201cJane did a good job swimming all her events,\u201d Quam said. \u201cLindsay is also continuing to improve in her races.\u201d<\/p>\n
Senior Sara Schmied (50 free\/25.39) and sophomore Sheena Mills (20 butterfly\/2:12.82) also grabbed first place finishes for the Cougs. <\/p>\n
\u201cWe want everyone to continue to go faster,\u201d Quam said. \u201cWe\u2019re focusing on our performances as individuals.\u201d <\/p>\n
The Cougars' next competition is the Pac-10 Championships February 27-March 1. The Pac-10\u2019s will be held in Federal Way. and are hosted by California. <\/p>\n
