More than 160 boats will carry delegations down a six-kilometre route from Pont d\u2019Austerlitz to the Trocad\u00e9ro, passing many famous Parisian monuments, bridges and cultural institutions, such as Notre Dame cathedral, the Louvre and the Eiffel Tower.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"CToWUd a6T aligncenter\" tabindex=\"0\" src=\"https:\/\/ci3.googleusercontent.com\/proxy\/nLdtjNz2nCzwpZoY-YX0pnemltq-VVlvmNBpdWhtRPmmroAbNtO6GUFND_lUBhMbdobuRF2GCrEs53zs_41BOAibcu9lnu5sSlAsn8Wt9sQg-pPgMuzVi8eltrAE-KhmDWUBEZIZYMW8eMSbcwoCJ9h4ptF0lLiGY2TwEB1K=s0-d-e1-ft#https:\/\/eu.vocuspr.com\/Publish\/3618839\/vcsPRAsset_3618839_294082_29dce156-f13e-48a5-ae33-19fb83c179af_0.jpg\" alt=\"Image\" width=\"602\" height=\"339\" \/><\/p>\n<p>With free public access to part of the river banks, as well as viewing areas on the many bridges and quays along the route, more than 600,000 spectators are expected to welcome the athletes from across the world for the Parade of Nations.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking about the concept, IOC President <strong>Thomas Bach<\/strong> said: \u201cOrganising the Opening Ceremony along the Seine, the emblematic river in the very heart of the city, perfectly aligns with Paris 2024\u2019s ambition to reinvent the Games model by opening up participation to as many people as possible.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He continued: \u201cThis Ceremony will be an exceptional experience for all the athletes taking part, but also, and above all, for the people of Paris, for France and for the whole world.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Paris 2024 President <strong>Tony Estanguet<\/strong> added: \u201cRest assured, the Paris 2024 Opening Ceremony will be nothing short of magical. Its staging will be ground-breaking. It will be a ceremony for the people, open to one and all. It will show the world the very best of France. A party like no other &#8211; and the world is invited!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In addition to the Opening Ceremony decision, Paris 2024\u2019s Board of Directors approved a number of competition venue changes.<\/p>\n<p>The purpose of these adjustments is to allow for better shared use of the existing sites, whilst continuing to provide an exceptional backdrop for the Olympic and Paralympic competitions, in the very heart of the French capital.<\/p>\n<p>Les Invalides, Pont Alexandre III, Pont d\u2019I\u00e9na, the Trocad\u00e9ro and the forecourt of the H\u00f4tel de Ville are now included on the route of the road races.<\/p>\n<p>The marathon will start from the H\u00f4tel de Ville and end at Les Invalides.
