Photo Courtesy: Wade J Brennan.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Stubblety-Cook left his beloved Aquatic Centre at Chandler excited by what lies ahead in 2022 after setting the his home pool\u00a0 alight on an action-packed first session of individual finals.<\/p>\n<p>Stubblety-Cook led a host of Tokyo Olympians back into competition and it was &#8220;game on&#8221; from the opening event with, 17-year-old St Peters Western gold medallist O\u2019Callaghan surprising even herself.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMollie O\u201d produced a near-best 200m freestyle time to win the first of her three State titles in an \u201chour of power\u201d and lowering the colours of Olympic champion and her team mate <strong>Ariarne Titmus<\/strong> into the bargain.<\/p>\n<p>But the swim of the night belonged to Stubblety-Cook with the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/olympics-zac-stubblety-cook-strikes-australias-fifth-gold-in-200-breaststroke-in-olympic-record-time\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Tokyo 200m breaststroke gold medallist<\/a> setting a new Queensland All-Comers record of 2:07.00 in his pet 200m breaststroke event.<\/p>\n<p>It was his first swim back after his Tokyo triumph and just 0.88 secs outside the world record he nudged in the Olympic final.<\/p>\n<p>Russian <strong>Anton Chupkov<\/strong> holds the world mark at 2:06.12 \u2013 and Stubblety-Cook was the only swimmer under 2:07.00 in the Olympic final \u2013 clocking a new Olympic record of 2:06.38.<\/p>\n<p>And that swim came after he set his own Commonwealth record, a faster time of 2:06.28 at the Australian Olympic Trials in June this year.<\/p>\n<div class=\"oembed-wrap\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Zac Stubblety Cook 2 07 00 Qld Champs 12:12:21\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/7L86sL4y8tM?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<p>The 22-year-old surprised even himself when he arrived at the pool in the morning admitting he felt \u201cpretty good\u201d in the warm up, punching out a solid 2:08.95.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI thought, \u2018I\u2019d give it a crack this morning and was totally surprised with my time so I knew I was in form,\u201d said an excited Stubblety-Cook, who admitted he had some mixed emotions after the Games.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen I came back from Tokyo I was asking myself, is that the peak?
