It handed the Sagehens (27-8) <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sagehens.com\/sports\/mwaterpolo\/2021-22\/releases\/20211205tx1zb0\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">their first NCAA title<\/a>, a storybook finish a season that included the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/division-iii-recap-pomona-pitzer-sweeps-sciac-titles\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">SCIAC regular season<\/a> and postseason tournament crowns.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">Your 2021 USA Water Polo Division III National Champions! CMS opened up a 9-6 lead on a <strong>Rob Driscoll<\/strong> goal, and it led 10-7 with 3:11 left in the third quarter when Pang scored his second.<\/p>\n<p>But Pomona-Pitzer went on a four-goal run, starting with <strong>Dylan Elliott<\/strong> with 17 seconds left in the third. Kyle Green put the Sagehens ahead, 12-11, with 4:45 to play, a third-straight man-up goal after Sam Sasaki and Ben Sasaki closed the gap. Pang\u2019s fourth goal, just 12 seconds after Green, appeared to set up a grandstand finish, but instead the defenses won out for the rest of the fourth and most of OT. <strong>Noah Smith<\/strong> stopped seven shots and made four steals for the Stags in goal.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thefosh.net\/live\/11930\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">In the third-place game<\/a>, Johns Hopkins edged MIT, 11-10. <strong>Emerson Sullivan<\/strong> scored three goals, and <strong>Kyle Pearson<\/strong> made 21 saves in net. <strong>Miller Geschke<\/strong> scored five goals for MIT.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Benjamin Sasaki\u2019s Double-OT Goal Gives Pomona-Pitzer First Water Polo Title It took two overtimes Sunday to separate two teams located just a single street part.
