This year, it is back to a one-meet format.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Katie Ledecky<\/strong> leads the field into the meet, her first meet since <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/katie-ledecky-embraces-challenges-to-come-in-her-new-gator-chapter\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">moving her training to the University of Florida<\/a>, where she is also a volunteer assistant coach.<\/p>\n<p>Ledecky is entered in the 200 free, 400 free, 800 free and 1500 free. She will be joined in several distance events by <strong>Leah Smith,<\/strong> <strong>Paige Madden<\/strong> and <strong>Sierra Schmidt<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/results\/2021-us-open-psych-sheet\/usa-senior-national\/2021\/November\/29?rtn=%2Fresults%2F\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Psych sheet<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Florida Olympic champion <strong>Bobby Finke<\/strong> leads the men\u2019s distance events at the US Open.<\/p>\n<p>The 200 IM will have several stars with Virginia Olympian <strong>Alex Walsh<\/strong> as the top seed, ahead of Team Elite\u2019s <strong>Kathleen Baker<\/strong>, Leah Smith and Stanford\u2019s <strong>Regan Smith<\/strong>. Walsh was an Olympic medalist and led Virginia to the NCAA title last year. Regan Smith is coming off of an Olympic medalist performance in Tokyo and is a freshman at Stanford. Meanwhile, Baker has been <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/kathleen-baker-reveals-twisted-ankle-fractured-bone-in-foot-still-all-in-on-olympic-trials\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">fighting back from a foot injury<\/a> that kept her from being at top form at the Olympic trials and making a second Olympic team.<\/p>\n<p>Swimmers from Florida, Virginia, NC State, Ohio State and Louisville lead the college team entrees. Not all of the stars will compete at the US Open. Florida&#8217;s <strong>Kieran Smith<\/strong> and Virginia&#8217;s <strong>Kate Douglass<\/strong> are not on the psych sheet for the meet. But there are plenty of other swimmers from the college ranks ready to make their US Open marks at the Greensboro Aquatic Center.<\/p>\n<p>College star swimmers slated to compete at the 2021 US Open include<strong> David Curtiss, Luca Urlando, Sophie Hansson, Trey Freeman, Katharine Berkoff<\/strong> and <strong>Hunter Tapp.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>There are several other pro stars slated to compete, including <strong>Mallory Comerford, Madison Kennedy, Coleman Stewart, Maxime Rooney<\/strong> and<strong> Justin Res<\/strong>s.<\/p>\n<p>There will be several international swimmers at the 2021 US Open, led by Brazil\u2019s <strong>Bruno Fratus<\/strong>, who is the top seed in the men\u2019s 50 free.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The 2021 US Open kicks off this week at the Greensboro Aquatic Center and several stars will participate in the meet.
