(Lagenfeld also lost his 50 free record to <strong>Nikola Acin<\/strong> earlier <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/nikola-acin-sets-school-record-19-31-in-50-free-at-purdue-invite\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">in the Purdue Invite<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<p>He also outdueled Northwestern Olympian <strong>Federico Burdisso<\/strong> in 46.04. Both are NCAA B cuts, as it third-placed <strong>Liam Walker<\/strong> (47.43) and B final winner <strong>Michael Juengel<\/strong> (47.28), both of Purdue.<\/p>\n<p>Samuels also set the Purdue freshman record in the 100 backstroke at 46.68 seconds. He finished second in that event to Louisville\u2019s <strong>Mitchell Whyte<\/strong> (46.20). Samuels took second in the 100 free in 42.93, second to Acin (42.69).<\/p>\n<p>Samuels, Acin, <strong>Nick Sherman<\/strong> and <strong>Keelan Hart<\/strong> helped Purdue win the 400 free relay in an NCAA B cut of 2:51.18, just .19 off the A standard. Louisville was second. The Boilermakers got the win in the men\u2019s team standings over a shorthanded Louisville, while Northwestern topped Louisville on the women\u2019s side.<\/p>\n<h4>Purdue Invite Team Scores<\/h4>\n<p><strong>Men\u2019s<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Purdue 902.5<\/li>\n<li>Louisville 768<\/li>\n<li>Northwestern 709<\/li>\n<li>Missouri State 368<\/li>\n<li>Navy 358<\/li>\n<li>McKendree 309.5<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>Women\u2019s<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Northwestern 907.5<\/li>\n<li>Louisville 786.5<\/li>\n<li>FIU 610<\/li>\n<li>Purdue 500<\/li>\n<li>Missouri State 375<\/li>\n<li>Illinois State 192<\/li>\n<li>McKendree 143<\/li>\n<li>Indiana State 1<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>The only Burke Aquatic Center record of the meet went to Northwestern\u2019s <strong>Kevin Houseman,<\/strong> who turned in an A cut of 51.33 in the 100 breaststroke. His time was an NCAA A cut and three seconds quicker than his prelims swim.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/purduesports.com\/documents\/2021\/11\/20\/purdue_invite_complete_result_2021.pdf\">PURDUE INVITE RESULTS<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>He also outswam Louisville star <strong>Evgenii Somov,<\/strong> who was second in 52.52. Somov would win the 200 breast in 1:54.91, an NCAA B cut. <strong>Coleman Modglin<\/strong> was second, and 400 IM winner <strong>Daniel Sos<\/strong> was fourth with Houseman fifth.<\/p>\n<p>Houseman also helped Northwestern make history by taking down a <strong>Matt Grevers<\/strong> era record from 2007 in the 200 medley relay. The team of <strong>Manu Martos Bacarizo,<\/strong> Houseman, Burdisso and <strong>Andrew Zhang<\/strong> clocked in at 1:24.68 to beat Louisville by a half-second and undercut the record of 1:25.14. The time is an NCAA B cut.<\/p>\n<p>Burdisso was also second in the 200 fly, trailing Northwestern teammate <strong>Connor Lamastra,<\/strong> who took third in the 200 free. Lamastra\u2019s time of 1:41.70 took down Burdisso\u2019s school record from 2020.<\/p>\n<p>Louisville grabbed the only relay A cut of the last two days of the meet in the 400 free relay. The team of <strong>Gabi Albiero, Arina Openysheva, Paige Hetrick<\/strong> and <strong>Tristen Ulett<\/strong> went 3:14.15 to get .35 under the auto standard.<\/p>\n<p>Albiero won the 100 fly with Ulett second, then was second in the 200 fly. Openysheva won the 100 and 200 free, <strong>Emma Lepisova<\/strong> swept the backstroke events and <strong>Abby Hay<\/strong> won the 400 IM and 200 butterfly.<\/p>\n<p>For Louisville\u2019s men, Whyte won the 200 back in 1:42.65 to go with the 100 back title. <strong>Colton Paulson<\/strong> and <strong>Gustavo Saldo<\/strong> went 1-2 in the 200 free.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Hannah Brunzell<\/strong> of Northwestern won the 200 breast in 2:08.19 and was second in the 100 breast. <strong>Tara Vovk<\/strong> claimed the 100 breast, an event that featured nine NCAA B cuts. <strong>Lola Mull<\/strong> won the women\u2019s mile.<\/p>\n<p>Missouri State\u2019s <strong>Dylan Moffatt<\/strong> won the men\u2019s 1,650 in 15:09.94, an NCAA B cut. <strong>Anna Miller<\/strong> was second in the 100 free after <a href=\"https:\/\/missouristatebears.com\/news\/2021\/11\/18\/swimming-and-diving-millers-record-breaking-performance-highlights-first-day-of-purdue-invitational.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">winning the 50 free on day 1<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Navy\u2019s <strong>Garrett McGovern<\/strong> led the Midshipmen by finishing second in the men\u2019s mile in a B cut of 15:17.95. He was also sixth in the 500 free.<\/p>\n<p>Florida International <a href=\"https:\/\/fiusports.com\/news\/2021\/11\/20\/womens-swimming-and-diving-fiu-swim-dive-finishes-purdue-invite-in-third-overall.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">broke four school records<\/a>, including in the women\u2019s 200 medley relay. <strong>Christie Chue,<\/strong> who was on that relay, set both breaststroke records in prelims, then lowered them in finals. She landed second in the 200 breast, going 2:08.66, and fourth in the 100 at 59.88. The women\u2019s 100 fly mark changed hands twice, with <strong>Julia Miranda<\/strong> tying the mark in prelims at 53.02, then <strong>Stephanie Hussey<\/strong> taking it in finals by finishing third in 52.85. (Miranda was fifth in 53.09). Both are NCAA B cuts.<\/p>\n<p>McKendree\u2019s <strong>Filipe Pinheiro<\/strong> set a school record of 53.21 in the 100 breaststroke. The Division II outfit set 29 NCAA B cuts and one A cut, belong to <strong>Jack Lustig<\/strong> in the 200 fly (1:44.72).
