Bolles Boys Just Miss National High School Record in 200 Medley Relay as Teams Sweep Florida 1A State Championships<\/strong><\/p>\n

At the Florida 1A state championships in Stuart, the latest crop of talented swimmers from the Bolles School unleashed a remarkable performance in the 200 medley relay at the beginning of an amazing meet. The team of\u00a0Carter Lancaster\u00a0<\/strong>(22.69),\u00a0William Heck\u00a0<\/strong>(24.03),\u00a0Miguel Rojas Newman<\/strong> (21.55) and\u00a0Tucker Peterson<\/strong> (20.01) combined to swim a time of 1:28.28.<\/p>\n

Their was just a half-second off the National High School Record (overall and for prep schools) of 1:27.74 set by Baylor’s team of Luke Kaliszak<\/strong>,\u00a0Dustin Tynes<\/strong>,\u00a0Sam McHugh<\/strong> and\u00a0Christian Selby<\/strong>\u00a0<\/strong>in 2014.<\/p>\n

That kicked off a meet of absolute dominance for Bolles. Later on, another Bolles relay finished about a second off the NAG record as\u00a0Andres Dupont Cabrera<\/strong>, Heck, Peterson and Ethan Mahoney<\/strong> swam a 1:20.30 in the 200 free relay. The record in that event stands at 1:19.27, set by the Bolles group of Ryan Murphy<\/strong>,\u00a0Joseph Schooling<\/strong>, Emiro Goossen<\/strong> and Santo Condorelli<\/strong> in 2012. Three of those four are now Olympic medalists.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Cabrera won the 200 free (1:35.90) and 100 free (43.74), and Newman picked up tight wins in the 50 free (20.49) and 100 fly (48.26). Heck won the 100 breast in 53.95. Bolles finished the meet with an incredible 2:58.10 in the 400 free relay with Seth Tolentino<\/strong>, Lancaster, Cabrera and\u00a0Kayden Lancaster<\/strong> leading the way. In the end, Bolles won the meet by almost 400 point. That group scored 574 points, and The King’s Academy placed second with 174.5.<\/p>\n

The King’s Academy did get a signature performance from\u00a0Joshua Zuchowski<\/strong>, who won the 200 IM in 1:45.51 and then the 100 back in 47.29.<\/p>\n

On the women’s side, Pine Crest’s\u00a0Julia Podkoscielny<\/strong> put up a blistering time of 1:59.79 to win the 200 IM, while South Florida Heat’s put up two remarkable performances: 22.29 in the 50 free and 52.34 in the 100 back. But Bolles still had the best team overall, putting up 370 points to crush St. Andrews’ second-place total of 238.<\/p>\n

Bolles has traditionally been one of the top high school programs in the United States<\/a>, and the tradition continued this year, particularly with a boys team that could end up as one of the country’s best.<\/p>\n
