The memorial meet is meant to raise awareness for individuals struggling with mental health issues and remove the stigma associated with seeking help.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat is the stigma that we have to break,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/michigan-swimmer-ian-miskelley-remembered-after-tragic-suicide-family-team-carrying-ian-with-us\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Ian\u2019s father\u00a0<strong>Steve Miskelley<\/strong> told <em>Swimming World<\/em> last year<\/a>. \u201cIt can happen to anyone. People constantly equate sadness and depression, and those are not the same thing. People wonder what you have to be depressed about when you have so much going for you, but that is not what this is.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>This is not the first time that Michigan has honored Miskelley in early November. Check out <a href=\"https:\/\/vmrw8k5h.tinifycdn.com\/results\/pdf\/2021-michigan-vs-grand-valley-state-ncaa-college-2021-11-06.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">full results<\/a> here, and read <a href=\"https:\/\/mgoblue.com\/news\/2021\/11\/6\/mens-swimming-diving-michigan-men-triumph-over-grand-valley-state-at-ian-miskelley-memorial-meet.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">the full press release<\/a> from Michigan below:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>The No. 6-ranked Michigan men&#8217;s swimming and diving team returned to action Saturday morning (Nov. 6) and defeated visiting Grand Valley State 142-95 in the Ian Miskelley Memorial Meet in Canham Natatorium.<\/p>\n<p>The meet kicked off with the Maize and Blue taking the top two spots in the 200-yard medley relay and never looking back. <strong>Jared<\/strong> <strong>Daigle<\/strong>, <strong>Cameron<\/strong> <strong>Luarde<\/strong>, <strong>Cam Peel<\/strong> and <strong>Will Chan<\/strong> turned in the top time of 1:30.90, while the team of <strong>Noah Yarian<\/strong>,<strong>JamesLeBuke<\/strong>, <strong>Wyatt<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>Davis<\/strong> and <strong>Spencer Carl<\/strong> finished second in 1:33.50.<\/p>\n<p>Sophomore <strong>Yugo Tsukikawa<\/strong> kept the Wolverines winning, taking the 200-yard freestyle in 1:42.27. In the 50-yard freestyle, U-M took the top three spots; Sophomore <strong>Bence Szabados<\/strong> touched the wall first in 20.19, followed closely by freshman <strong>Niklas Eberly<\/strong> (20.62) and senior <strong>Patrick Callan<\/strong> (21.10).<\/p>\n<p>Michigan (4-0) secured the dual victory over GVSU (4-2) in the 200-yard IM, sweeping the top four spots. Senior Daigle led the way with a 1:47.74, while freshman <strong>Gal Groumi<\/strong> came in second in 1:50.01.
