A day after a <a title=\"Katinka Hosszu Shakes Off Food Poisoning To Triple in Nice\" href=\"http:\/\/news.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/katinka-hosszu-shakes-off-food-poisoning-to-triple-in-nice\/\">gritty triple during which she shook off a night of battling food poisoning<\/a>, the Iron Lady Katinka Hsoszu was back at it this afternoon at the Nice International Long Course Meet.<\/p>\n<p>Hosszu closed out the field in the women&#8217;s 100-meter backstroke with a 1:01.11 for the win. Spain&#8217;s Duane Da Rocha Marce finished second in 1:02.88, while Ukraine&#8217;s Maryna Kolesnikova picked up third in 1:03.36.<\/p>\n<p>Hosszu then finished third in the women&#8217;s 50-meter fly with a 27.02. She still has a bit of time to cut to reach Eszter Dara&#8217;s Hungarian record of 26.68 from 2009, but Hosszu continues to try to track down every record in the Hungarian books. France&#8217;s Melanie Henique (26.55) and Camille Muffat (26.63) took second and third, while Lithuania&#8217;s Ruta Meilutyte pocketed fourth in 27.26.<\/p>\n<p>Hosszu doubled up for her fifth title of the meet thus far as she posted a 4:37.68 in the women&#8217;s 400-meter IM. That&#8217;s not her best speed of 4:30.31 from 2009, but it was more than enough to secure victory tonight. Spain&#8217;s Beatriz Gomez Cortes took second in 4:45.92, while France&#8217;s Fantine Lesaffre popped a third-place time of 4:46.57.<\/p>\n<p>Hosszu&#8217;s training partner David Foldhazi of Hungary snared the men&#8217;s 100-meter backstroke title in 56.88 with France&#8217;s Eddie Moueddene snagging second in 57.01. Ukraine&#8217;s Andrii Khloptsov rounded out the podium in 57.06. Great Britain&#8217;s Ben Proud punched the clock in 23.67 to win the men&#8217;s 50-meter fly with Ukraine&#8217;s Andrey Govorov finishing second in 23.85. Russia&#8217;s Evgeny Korotyshkin clinched third-place honors in 24.68.<\/p>\n<p>Foldhazi closed out the show on night two with a win in the men&#8217;s 400-meter IM. He clocked a 4:26.74, while Portugal&#8217;s Alexis Santos took second in 4:28.55. Spain&#8217;s Marc Sanchez Torrens finished third in 4:29.39.<\/p>\n<p>With Spain&#8217;s Mireia Belmonte Garcia scratching the women&#8217;s 1500-meter free, the door certainly wound up being wide open for the rest of the field, and Jimena Perez Blanco of Spain happened to pick up the baton with a 16:33.87 for the win. Melanie Costa Schmid touched second in 16:36.12, while Spain swept the podium with a third-place 16:36.40 from Maria Vilas Vidal.<\/p>\n<p>Ukraine&#8217;s Mykhaylo Romanchuk followed with a 7:58.43 to capture the men&#8217;s 800-meter freestyle timed final title. France&#8217;s Benoit Debast touched second overall in 8:06.53, while compatriot Anthony Pannier picked up third in 8:11.01.<\/p>\n<p>Spain&#8217;s Jessica Vall Montero hit the wall in 2:30.19 to dominate the women&#8217;s 200-meter breaststroke finale. France&#8217;s Laura Paquit placed a distant second in 2:37.77, closing out Great Britain&#8217;s Claudia Kitching (2:37.77) for the silver. France&#8217;s Quentin Coton clocked a 2:14.50 for the men&#8217;s 200-meter breast crown, while compatriots Thomas Rabeisen (2:18.42) and Quentin Callais (2:18.67) placed second and third.<\/p>\n<p>Charlotte Bonnet stopped the clock in 1:58.87 to easily win the women&#8217;s 200-meter free, while Muffat snatched her second podium of the night with a 2:00.03 for silver. Coralie Balmy comprised the rest of the top three in 2:00.22.
