Five-time Olympian Alia Atkinson<\/strong> received an honorary doctor of laws (LLD) degree from the University of the West Indies on Thursday<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cSo many accolades I never expected in this life; and it was all because I did a sport I loved while doing it to the best of my God given ability,\u201d Atkinson wrote on Instagram. \u201cPerseverance is (key). Thank you to the University of West Indies for this superlative honourary degree.\u201d<\/p>\n
