MADISON Jacobi picked up wins in three individual events as the Florida State women&#8217;s swimming and diving team earned a victory over Miami in its final dual meet of the season, 174-113. Tiffany Oliver added two wins in the 50 and 100 free for the Seminoles.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Florida State Press Release<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Florida State women&#8217;s swimming and diving team closed out its dual meet season with a victory over Miami, 174-113. With the win, the Seminoles finish the year with a 7-2, 3-0 ACC meet record while the Hurricanes fall to 0-7, 0-3.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It was a little rough but a win is a win,&#8221; head coach Frank Bradley said. &#8220;We have some things we need to work on &#8211; they&#8217;ve got to hit some gears that they struggled with today but we&#8217;ll work on it and we&#8217;re ready to shift our focus to the ACC Championships.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The Seminoles won 12 out of the 16 events on the day, with highlights in both the swimming and diving portions of the meet.<\/p>\n<p>Sophomore Sami Pochowski swam a career best time in the 200 breast, posting a 2:14.23. The swim was the fourth fastest in school history.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to Pochowski&#8217;s swim, redshirt junior Katrina Young dove a career high on 3-meter, posting a 343.35 en route to winning the event.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Katrina had a phenomenal 3-meter today,&#8221; head diving coach Pat Jeffrey said. &#8220;The field was tough and the talent level was high and she just really shined today on 3-meter. I thought all of our kids dove solid today.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Contributing multiple individual event wins today were sophomore Madison Jacobi and senior Tiffany Oliver.<\/p>\n<p>Jacobi won three races as she first cruised to a win in the 1000 free with a time of 9:52.82, ahead of sophomore Lauren Hine who was second with a 10:25.75. Switching strokes, she then won the 200 back with a time of 2:05.02, holding off freshman Chelsie Britt who was second with a 2:06.91. Britt outlasted classmate Caroline Page, who was third (2:07.60).<\/p>\n<p>Completing the trifecta moments after her backstroke win, Jacobi stole the show in the 500 free posting a 4:53.99. Josie Cuda was second with a 5:00.03 while Julia Henkel took third at 5:00.50.<\/p>\n<p>Oliver was on point in the 200 free and 50 free races, taking the 200 with a time of 1:51.49 just ahead of Cuda (1:52.08) and Henkel (1:53.09). Minutes later, Oliver won the 50 free with a time of 23.34.<\/p>\n<p>The women&#8217;s swimming and diving team along with the men&#8217;s diving squad will head to Greensboro, N.C. for the ACC Championship on Feb. 19-22. The men&#8217;s swimming portion will take place the following weekend on Feb. 26- March 1.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Miami Press Release<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The University of Miami women\u2019s swimming and diving team closed out its dual meet schedule with a hard-fought loss to ACC rival Florida State, dropping the road match 174-113.<\/p>\n<p>The Hurricanes were paced by a strong showing from the diving contingent, who turned in top performances. Miami captured the top two performances in the 1-meter with dominant outings from Cheyenne Cousineau (301.13, first) and Kara McCormack (297.88, second), while the duo finished third and second, respectively, in the 3-meter event.<\/p>\n<p>Junior transfer Heather Arseth, competing in her second event of the spring after missing much of the fall due to injury, delivered a standout performance in the 100-yard Backstroke early in the meet. Arseth bested the competition by nearly a full second, capturing first place in the event in a blazing time of 56.54.<\/p>\n<p>Fellow junior Amy Wiley continued Miami\u2019s momentum, taking first in the 100 Breaststroke with a time of 1:05.75. Freshman Julia Schippert, who has impressed in her first collegiate season, touched the wall in a third-place time of 1:06.60.<\/p>\n<p>Freshman Angela Algee earned her team points with a second-place finish in the 200 Butterfly (2:03.61), while captain Kat Nicholson delivered a third-place finish in the 50 Freestyle (24.65).<\/p>\n<p>The Hurricanes finished the event on a strong note\/ Sophomore My Fridell won her signature event, the 100 Butterfly, in a time of 55.85.
