{"id":490437,"date":"2021-11-02T15:43:32","date_gmt":"2021-11-02T22:43:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/?p=490437"},"modified":"2021-11-02T15:43:32","modified_gmt":"2021-11-02T22:43:32","slug":"kayden-and-carter-lancaster-have-transferred-from-carmel-to-bolles","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/kayden-and-carter-lancaster-have-transferred-from-carmel-to-bolles\/","title":{"rendered":"Kayden and Carter Lancaster Have Transferred from Carmel to Bolles"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Kayden and Carter Lancaster Have Transferred from Carmel to Bolles<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Last season, as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/carmel-high-school-boys-are-swimming-worlds-boys-high-school-team-of-the-year\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">the Carmel boys high school team won\u00a0<em>Swimming World&#8217;s<\/em> overall team championship<\/a>, brothers\u00a0<strong>Kayden<\/strong> and\u00a0<strong>Carter Lancaster<\/strong> were significant contributors. Both swam on two state championship relays for the Greyhounds, and the 400 free relay that featured both (along with <strong>Griffin Hadley<\/strong> and <strong>Gus Rothrock<\/strong>) was the country&#8217;s fastest. But now, the two will be aiming to win a different state championship as they have moved south to Jacksonville, Florida, and they are now competing for the Bolles School.<\/p>\n<p>Both brothers are listed on the <a href=\"https:\/\/s3.amazonaws.com\/fhsaa.org\/documents\/2021\/10\/31\/1A_Roster.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">meet roster<\/a> for Saturday&#8217;s Florida 1A High School State Championship meet, although no psych sheet was available. Kayden, a junior, and Carter, a sophomore, are the sons of\u00a0<strong>Jason Lancaster<\/strong>, who swam at Carmel and later the University of Michigan. The elder Lancaster won 12 state titles in high school from 1991-94 and was was on the Michigan team in 1995 that won the national title under coach <strong>Jon Urbanchek<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Jason Lancaster also finished third in the 100 butterfly at the 1996 Olympic Trials, missing a chance at becoming Carmel&#8217;s first Olympic swimmer in its illustrious history. Carmel finally got an Olympian in 2021 when 2018 grad <strong>Drew Kibler<\/strong> finished third in the 200 free at Olympic Trials and then former teammate\u00a0<strong>Jake Mitchell<\/strong> qualified in a 400 free time trial later that evening.<\/p>\n<p>While the Lancaster teenagers have left one elite program, they are now swimming for another one with a lot of prestigious history. You don&#8217;t have to look far to see the impact that the school has made on the international scene in recent years. In 2016, Bolles grads\u00a0<strong>Ryan Murphy<\/strong> and\u00a0<strong>Joseph Schooling<\/strong> (Singapore) each won individual Olympic gold medals. And while\u00a0<strong>Caeleb Dressel<\/strong> did not attend Bolles, he trained with the elite group at the school under coaches\u00a0<strong>Sergio Lopez Miro\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0<strong>Jason Calanog<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Kayden Lancaster is a strong 200 and 500 freestyler, while Carter is best in the 200 IM and 100 back in high school competitions. We&#8217;ll see if these two can make an impact for their new high school squad right away. Bolles is bringing 48 total swimmers (girls plus boys) to the 1A meet this week, tied with fellow Sunshine State powerhouse Pine Crest for the most among all
