{"id":490413,"date":"2021-11-02T13:20:46","date_gmt":"2021-11-02T20:20:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/?p=490413"},"modified":"2021-11-02T13:20:46","modified_gmt":"2021-11-02T20:20:46","slug":"luca-urlando-repeats-joined-by-georgia-mate-zoie-hartman-in-sec-weekly-honors","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/luca-urlando-repeats-joined-by-georgia-mate-zoie-hartman-in-sec-weekly-honors\/","title":{"rendered":"Luca Urlando Repeats, Joined by Georgia Mate Zoie Hartman in SEC Weekly Honors"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Luca Urlando Repeats, Joined by Georgia Mate Zoie Hartman in SEC Weekly Honors<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Georgia\u2019s <strong>Luca Urlando<\/strong> has been named the SEC men\u2019s swimmer of the week for the second consecutive time, as the conference released its SEC Weekly Honors <a href=\"https:\/\/www.secsports.com\/article\/32534758\/swimming-diving-athletes-week\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">for Week 4 on Tuesday<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Urlando is joined by teammate <strong>Zoie Hartman<\/strong> as the women\u2019s swimmer of the week. <strong>Abby McCulloh,<\/strong> last week\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/luca-urlando-abby-mcculloh-mona-mcsharry-share-weekly-sec-honors\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">women\u2019s co-swimmer of the week<\/a>, is the freshman of the week this year.<\/p>\n<p>Florida produced both divers of the week, with <strong>Leonardo Garcia<\/strong> and <strong>Elizabeth Perez<\/strong> representing the men and women, respectively. South Carolina\u2019s <strong>Michael Laitarovsky<\/strong> is the men\u2019s freshman of the week.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/meet\/sec-swimming\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">SEC Swimming<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Urlando continued his dominance. The sophomore set the top time in the nation in three individual events <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/florida-claims-sweep-of-georgia-luca-urlando-paces-dawgs-with-several-no-1-marks\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">in a setback to Florida<\/a>. Urlando went 1:42.09 to win the 200 butterfly, then posted a 45.61 100 butterfly. He added a time of 1:45.12 in the 200 IM. All three are NCAA B cuts. He also led off the Georgia 200 medley relay with a split of 19.89 seconds.<\/p>\n<p>Garcia supplied the Gators with huge points on the boards. The junior from Colombia won the 1-meter event with a tally of 330.90, then prevailed on 3-meter at 394.65. Florida won the meet by a 180-120 score.<\/p>\n<p>Laitarovsky helped the Gamecocks to <a href=\"https:\/\/gamecocksonline.com\/news\/2021\/10\/29\/swimming-and-diving-gamecocks-sweep-royals.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">a 141-121 win over Queens<\/a>. The native of Natanya, Israel, won the 100 backstroke with a time of 50.61 seconds. He also led off South Carolina\u2019s winning 400 medley relay.<\/p>\n<p>Hartman helped the Bulldogs nearly get past Florida in a 153-147 setback. The junior from Danville, Calif., did her bit, winning the 100 breaststroke and 200 breast. She also set a season-best time in the 200 IM to win in 1:59.27, the eighth-fastest time in the nation. Hartmann added a breaststroke leg on the winning 200 medley relay.<\/p>\n<p>Perez won both springboard events for the Gators, including her highest score of the season on 3-meter with 340.05 points. The senior from Venezuela added a tally of 315.83 points on 1-meter.<\/p>\n<p>McCulloh continued her stellar start to college life by winning the 500 free against Florida. Her time of 4:45.38 is the fourth-fastest in the nation.
