{"id":490319,"date":"2021-11-01T17:13:30","date_gmt":"2021-11-02T00:13:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/?p=490319"},"modified":"2021-11-01T17:13:30","modified_gmt":"2021-11-02T00:13:30","slug":"olympic-trials-finalist-jojo-ramey-verbally-commits-to-florida-for-2023","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/olympic-trials-finalist-jojo-ramey-verbally-commits-to-florida-for-2023\/","title":{"rendered":"Olympic Trials Finalist JoJo Ramey Verbally Commits to Florida for 2023"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>NEW COMMIT:\u00a0<\/strong>The University of Florida has landed another big verbal commitment for the fall of 2023 from Olympic Trials finalist and U.S. National Junior Teamer <strong>JoJo Ramey\u00a0<\/strong>of Fishers, Indiana.<\/p>\n<p>She will join in-stater <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/florida-gators-land-2023-verbal-from-in-stater-michaela-mattes-of-sarasota-sharks\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Michaela Mattes<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>in Gainesville as a member of the Gators&#8217; Class of 2027.<\/p>\n<p>Regarding her commitment, she said:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>&#8220;I am beyond excited to announce that I will be continuing my athletic and academic career at the University of Florida! I am so thankful for my family, friends, and coaches at FAST for guiding me along the way. Also, thank you to all of the UF coaches for giving me this amazing opportunity. I cannot wait to be a part of Gator Nation!! GO GATORS&#8221;<\/strong><\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>A versatile swimmer, Ramey does her club swimming with Fishers Area Swimming Tigers and is a member of the USA Swimming National Junior Team. She most recently competed at the FINA World Cup stops in Berlin and Budapest, placing fourth in the 200m back and seventh in the 100m back in Budapest after earning a runner-up showing in the 200m back in Berlin.<\/p>\n<p>At Wave II of Olympic Trials in June, Ramey finished seventh overall in the 200m back after finishing fifth during semifinals. She also raced to 15th in semis of the 100m back in Omaha, concluding her stellar summer with a gold medal in the 200m back at the Speedo Summer East Championships.<\/p>\n<p>Her best times include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>100 back \u2013 55.50<\/li>\n<li>200 back \u2013 1:56.58<\/li>\n<li>200 free \u2013 1:47.54<\/li>\n<li>500 free \u2013 4:53.40<\/li>\n<li>200 IM \u2013 2:02.65<\/li>\n<li>400 IM \u2013 4:22.26<\/li>\n<li>100 fly \u2013 58.45<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Currently a junior at Fishers High School, Ramey finished fourth in both the 200 free and 500 free at the Indiana State Championships as a sophomore.
