Well, in the last week, they don\u2019t get any bigger than the most-recent world-record setter: <strong>Kyle Chalmers<\/strong>. The Australian ace joined Hawke, a two-time Olympian, to discuss his performance at last week\u2019s World Cup stop in Kazan.<\/p>\n<p>Following a narrow miss of the short-course world record in the 100-meter freestyle during earlier World Cup action, Chalmers registered the first world record of his career when he <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/kyle-chalmers-blasts-world-record-in-scm-100-freestyle-video\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">clocked a mark of 44.84 over four laps<\/a>. That effort sliced a tenth of a second off the 2008 record of Frenchman Amaury Leveaux, who was wearing a super-suit while racing at the European Championships.<\/p>\n<p>Chalmers took time to chat with Hawke about his record-breaking swim, which featured a front half of 21.40 and a back half of 23.44. Chalmers, the 2016 Olympic champion in the 100 freestyle, has long been known for his closing speed. At this past summer\u2019s Olympic Games in Tokyo, he finished with a flourish to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/olympics-in-long-awaited-showdown-caeleb-dressel-seizes-100-freestyle-crown-from-kyle-chalmers\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">claim the silver medal in 47.08<\/a>, just behind the winning 47.02 of American Caeleb Dressel.<\/p>\n<p>At next year\u2019s World Championships in Fukuoka, Japan, Chalmers figures to be part of another showdown with Dressel in the 100 freestyle. More, young guns David Popovici of Romania and Sunwoo Hwang of South Korea should figure into the battle for the top spot as well.<\/p>\n<p>Here is <a
