It erases the near 13-year-old record set by Frenchman <strong>Amaury Leveaux<\/strong> at 44.94 seconds.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li>Chalmers\u2019 splits: 21.40 &#8211; 23.44 \u2013 44.84<\/li>\n<li>Leveaux\u2019s splits: 21.72 &#8211; 23.22 \u2013 44.94<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">44.84 ? ?? It\u2019s the second short-course world record set this season, joining <strong>Coleman Stewart\u2019s<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/flash-coleman-stewart-set-100-backstroke-world-record-at-isl-match-2\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">mark in the 100 backstroke<\/a> from the International Swimming League season. Chalmers set the Aussie record in the 50 free on Thursday. He had downed the 100 free national record last week, going 45.03 in Doha <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/after-near-miss-kyle-chalmers-ready-to-make-another-run-at-world-record-in-100-freestyle\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">at the World Cup stop<\/a>.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/world-swimming-records-short-course-meters\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">World Swimming Records: Short Course Meters<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>It seemed only a matter of time before he got there. To get there, he blew away the swimmer with the second fastest time and World Cup record, <strong>Vladimir Morozov<\/strong> at 44.95.
