HYATTSVILLE, Maryland, January 30. THIS past weekend, plenty of fast swims went up on the scoreboard at the East Coast Catholic Classic in Maryland. The high school meet features top Catholic schools from Marlyand, D.C., Virginia and Pennsylvania.<\/p>\n
Carsten Vissering, who trains with NCAP on the club circuit, had a strong meet for Georgetown Prep. He turned in a 24.71 breaststroke leg as part of Georgetown Prep’s winning time of 1:32.95 in the 200-yard medley relay. Brandon Goldstein (23.91), Vissering, Grant Goddard (22.57) and Adrian Lin (21.76) combined in the event for the All-American time. Meanwhile, Malvern Prep’s CJ Schaffer (23.33), Aaron Salinas (26.44), Zach Maher (23.73) and Billy Beard (21.13) clocked an All-American consideration time of 1:34.63 for second in the event.<\/p>\n
Vissering then stopped the clock for an individual automatic All-American time in the 100-yard breaststroke with a winning time of 54.51. Loyola Blakefield then locked down an automatic time in the 400-yard free relay with Daniel Moreno, JP Clancy, Trey Perry and Cole Buese clocking in with a 3:07.23 for the win.<\/p>\n
Goddard returned in the 200-yard IM with a consideration time of 1:51.59 to win the event, with Loyola Blakefield’s Daniel Moreno placing second in 1:52.68 for a consideration time of his own. Lin then clocked a 4:33.64 in the 500-yard free for the win and a consideration time, while Gonzaga College High’s Brennan Novak placed second in 4:34.84.<\/p>\n
Cole Buese, who trains with North Baltimore, tracked down a consideration time in the 200-yard free with a 1:40.82 swimming for Loyola Blakefield as he won the overall event. Loyola Blakefield picked up another consideration time with a 21.14 from Trey Perry to win the 50-yard free.<\/p>\n
Notre Dame Prep’s Mary Clancy, meanwhile, hit the wall in 55.71 in the girls 100-yard fly to track down an All-American consideration time of her own.<\/p>\n
Loyola Blakefield snatched up another consideration time in the 200-yard free relay as Moreno (21.98), Buese (21.22), JP Clancy (21.29) and Perry (20.97) raced their way to a 1:25.46 to win the finale.<\/p>\n
Schaffer snared the 100-yard back title in 50.46 for another consideration time for Malvern Prep with Goldstein taking second in a consideration time of 51.23.<\/p>\n
