The five-time Olympian will join the Milan Cortina 2026 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.insidethegames.biz\/index.php\/articles\/1113516\/pellegrini-milan-cortina-2026-board\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Foundation Board as a result of<\/a> her election to the IOC Athletes\u2019 Commission.<\/p>\n<p>Pellegrini was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/federica-pellegrini-one-of-four-athletes-elected-to-ioc-athletes-commission\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">one of four athletes elected<\/a> to the IOC Athletes Commission in August. She\u2019ll serve a seven-year term, through the close of the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics. Pellegrini will join the board of the next Winter Olympics to be hosted by her home country.<\/p>\n<p>With the position, Pellegrini will be one of three Italian IOC members, along with Milan Cortina 2026 president <strong>Giovanni Malago<\/strong> and International Bobsleigh and Skeleton Federation President <strong>Ivo Ferriani.<\/strong> She also becomes a member of the board of the Italian Olympic Committee (CONI).<\/p>\n<p>Pellegrini had previously served as an ambassador for the 2026 Winter Games, helping unveil the event\u2019s logo last March.<\/p>\n<p>Federica Pellegrini, 33, has competed at every Olympics since 2004 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/if-federica-pellegrini-is-indeed-done-appreciate-her-phenomenal-historic-career\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">in a storied career<\/a>. An Italian athletic icon, she was the first Italian woman to win a gold medal in the pool when the claimed the 200 free in Beijing in 2008, four years after taking silver in the event. She\u2019s won seven world championships (long- and short-course) among 19 total Worlds medals and 14 European titles.<\/p>\n<p>This year, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/federica-pellegrini-set-to-retire-after-the-isl-no-foro-italico-homecoming-at-2022-europeans\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">she announced she would retire<\/a> following the International Swimming League season, in which the Mirano native was a big part of the Aqua Centurions qualifying for the playoffs in sixth place.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Federica Pellegrini Joins Board of Milan Cortina 2026 Olympics Italian swimmer Federica Pellegrini\u2019s first post-swimming venture won\u2019t take her far from the Olympics.
