He\u2019ll remain as the head coach there along with talent coach <strong>Kees Robbertsen,<\/strong> directly overseeing athletes. Among <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/arno-kamminga-on-rio-2016-overcoming-the-unexpected-at-europeans-and-dry-land-warm-ups\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">his star pupils are<\/a> <strong>Arno Kamminga<\/strong> and <strong>Kira Toussaint.<\/strong> The Amsterdam HPC will split into two groups of elite swimmers starting this year to prepare for Paris, with <strong>Thijs Hagelstein<\/strong> overseeing a distance group and Patrick Pearson leading a sprint contingent.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWith Mark, the KNZB has positioned an experienced and proven successful coach in this important position,\u201d Dutch swimming federation technical direct <strong>Andre Cats<\/strong> said <a href=\"https:\/\/www.knzb.nl\/actueel\/nieuws\/bericht\/1000052824\/mutaties_in_technische_staf_topzwemmen_knzb\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">in a statement<\/a>. \u201cMark has shown that he can guide a swim team towards compelling global results. With a largely renewed swimming team, we want to express ourselves at a global level in the coming years. A strong leader is vital on that route to new successes.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Former head coach <strong>Marcel Wouda<\/strong> has <a href=\"https:\/\/netherlandsnewslive-com.cdn.ampproject.org\/v\/s\/netherlandsnewslive.com\/wouda-takes-a-step-back-faber-new-national-coach-of-the-dutch-swimming-team\/245080\/?amp=&amp;amp_gsa=1&amp;amp_js_v=a6&amp;usqp=mq331AQKKAFQArABIIACAw%3D%3D#amp_tf=From%20%251%24s&amp;aoh=16325231397355&amp;referrer=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.google.com&amp;ampshare=https%3A%2F%2Fnetherlandsnewslive.com%2Fwouda-takes-a-step-back-faber-new-national-coach-of-the-dutch-swimming-team%2F245080%2F\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">transitioned to a new role<\/a>, leading the Eindhoven program and serving as project coach. That role includes pursuits with longer time horizons, such as a \u201cMedley Stroke 2032\u201d initiative.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWith Marcel, the KNZB will provide a major boost to knowledge development among coaches of both clubs and the KNZB coaches,\u201d Cats said. \u201cOur coaches must be smarter and more knowledgeable than colleagues abroad. Then we put our athletes ahead of the competition. Marcel, with his enormous wealth of knowledge and experience, will shape this ambition.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Also among the coaching reshuffling is <strong>Henri Koek,<\/strong> based in the Drachten training center, leading national talent development efforts. Koek will also direct the coach training program. <strong>Jeroen Rademaker<\/strong> was named head coach for the European Youth Championship in 2022.<\/p>\n<p>The Dutch team\u2019s five training centers will be headed by: Rademaker in Hengelo, <strong>Job van Duijnhoven<\/strong> in Amsterdam, <strong>Geert Janssen<\/strong> in Eindhoven, <strong>Harm Rozenga<\/strong> and <strong>Robin van Aggele<\/strong> in The Hague and Koek in Drachten.<\/p>\n<p>The Dutch had a respectable showing at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. Kamminga led the way with silver medals in the men\u2019s 100 and 200 breaststroke. <strong>Sharon van Rouwendaal<\/strong> won the women\u2019s 10-kilometer race. Six Dutch swimmers made finals in the pool, and the nation qualified for the Games in four of seven relays, led by the fourth-place women\u2019s 400 free relay. Even as <strong>Femke Heemskerk<\/strong> and <strong>Ranomi Kromowidjojo<\/strong> are on the far side of 30, there are talents like Toussaint emerging behind them.
