THE University of Missouri men\u2019s swimming and diving team could not catch the University of Iowa Hawkeyes despite many top individual performance by the Tigers and eventually fell to the Hawkeyes, 183-117. T<\/p>\n<p>he Tigers finish the season with a dual record of 5-5, the sixth consecutive season the men\u2019s team has finished at .500 or above.<\/p>\n<p>The men\u2019s team set a season\u2019s best time in the 400 medley relay. The team of Matt Ferrarelli, Matt North, Radu Miclaus and Tyler Belanger finished second with a time of 3:22.07. For North this was only the beginning of a extraordinary day.  The sophomore set a career bests and team best times in both the 100 and 200 breaststroke. He finished first in the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:03.96, third best all-time. He finished third in the 100 breaststroke. His time of 56.85 is also good enough for the fifth best time in school history. North later added a third place finish in the 200 individual medley (1:55.35).<\/p>\n<p>Ferrarelli had a good day as well. He finished first in the 200 individual medley (1:51.86) and second in the 100 backstroke with a time of 50.56. His time in the 100 backstroke is a season\u2019s and team high for the senior.<\/p>\n<p>Senior Dane Pedersen finished first in the 500 freestyle (4:38.93) and second in the 1,000 freestyle with a season\u2019s best time of 9:38.82. Fellow senior Radu Miclaus finished second in both the 100 (50.44) and 200 (1:51.38) butterflys.<\/p>\n<p>Other top performances by the Tigers include Belanger finishing second in the 50 freestyle (21.23) and third in the 100 freestyle (46.84). Ryan Searby finished third in the 200 freestyle (1:43.33). The team of Belanger, Searby, Miclaus and freshman Chris Lukas finished second in the 400 freestyle relay (3:08.98).<\/p>\n<p>Jamie Sweeney set another school diving record. After breaking the 1-meter record last weekend against Drury he broke the 3-meter record with his first place score of 368.25. <\/p>\n<p>Evan Watters finished second in the 1-meter (298.73) and third in the 3-meter (296.55).<\/p>\n<p>Next for the men\u2019s swimming and diving team is the Big 12 Championships on February 19 thru 22 in Austin, Texas.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>COLUMBIA, Mo., Feb. 1.
