CORVALLIS, Ore., Feb. 1. THE Oregon State women\u2019s swim team defeated Washington State University for the second consecutive day, Saturday, 102-84. The victory comes just a day after the Beavers defeated the Cougars, 100-78 in a separate dual meet. With the win the Beavers move to 12-2 overall in dual meets (2-2 in Pac-10 competition). The Cougars fall to 3-4 on the season and 0-3 in the Pac-10.<\/p>\n
There was no men's meet, as both schools have killed off their men's teams.<\/p>\n
Oregon State got off to a quick start, winning the first seven events. OSU led 102-28 after the seven events, swimming exhibition the rest of the meet. <\/p>\n
Sasha Taylor (200 backstroke\/2:10.67), Jill Olson (500 free\/5:13.22), and Jane Copland (200 breaststroke\/ 2:20.65) had the only first place finishes for the Cougars. <\/p>\n
Seniors Sara Schmied (200 free\/1:55.88) and Lindsay Henahan (100 free\/53.77) both finished second in their first individual events, marking the highest finishes for WSU in the first seven events.<\/p>\n
WSU came into this weekend\u2019s meets after a week off. Washington State last competed January 17 and 18, falling to Nevada in a relay meet and a dual meet. <\/p>\n
Washington State heads back home Saturday, February 8 for their last home meet of the season. The Cougars will take on two club teams in the Cougar Invitational beginning at 11 a.m. at Gibb pool.<\/p>\n
