Auchinachie, who formerly competed at the University of Denver, will be a graduate student and take advantage of the NCAA ruling that granted students an extra year of eligibility due to the COVID-19 pandemic.<\/p>\n<p>Auchinachie did not represent the Pioneers last season but had some impressive performances during his last appearance at the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncaa.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">NCAA <\/a>Championships. During his sophomore year, he posted top times of 19.13 for the 50-yard freestyle, 41.81 in the 100 freestyle and 1:34.24 for the 200 freestyle. He was a consolation finalist in the shorter events, placing 16th and 11th, respectively.<\/p>\n<p>Auchinachie\u2019s graduate transfer gives Texas coach <strong>Eddie Reese<\/strong> an impressive arsenal of sprinters. The Longhorns also boast the likes of returnees <strong>Daniel Krueger<\/strong>, <strong>Drew Kibler<\/strong> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/alvin-jiang-to-return-for-fifth-year-with-texas-longhorns\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Alvin Jiang<\/strong><\/a>, and incoming freshman <strong>Anthony Grimm<\/strong>. At the 2021 NCAA Championships, where Texas captured its <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/texas-longhorns-solidify-15th-ncaa-mens-swimming-diving-title\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">15th team title<\/a>, the Longhorns finished sixth in the 200 freestyle relay and fourth in the 400 freestyle relay. Auchinachie could be an option for those relays at the 2022 NCAA Champs.<\/p>\n<p>Texas is scheduled to begin its season on Sept. 24 with its annual Orange-White meet.
