He touched the wall in 56.36, breaking his own previous world record of 56.68 that he set in the 2016 Paralympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.<\/p>\n<p>Canada\u2019s <strong>Nicholas Guy Turbide<\/strong> took the silver in 59.70, while Russian Paralympic Committee\u2019s <strong>Vladimir Sotnikov<\/strong> took the bronze in 59.86.<\/p>\n<p>It was an emotional swim for Turbide.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI feel pretty emotional tonight actually, it&#8217;s not my usual self, but I had a year and a half filled with injuries that actually made me doubt that I would come here today at these Games,\u201d said Turbide, who had also placed second behind Boki at London 2019 to claim his first career world championship medal. \u201cGoing back home with a medal is the best result that I could have hoped for, and it shows that being resilient during the year and believing in myself made the difference tonight. Getting back to this level where I was in London in 2019 and finishing in the same position is just a full circle that closed itself.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>China also set a world record in the mixed 4&#215;50 relay, winning in 2:15.49. Italy took the silver in 2:21.45 and Brazil won the bronze in 2:24.82. China\u2019s swimmers were <strong>Zhang Li, Zheng Tao, Yuan Weiyi<\/strong> and <strong>Lu Dong<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 <a href=\"https:\/\/olympics.com\/tokyo-2020\/paralympic-games\/en\/results\/swimming\/results-men-s-100m-freestyle-s8-fnl-000100-.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Results<\/a><br \/>\n\u2022 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/meet\/2020-tokyo-paralympic-games\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Complete meet coverage<\/a><\/p>\n<p>In the men\u2019s 100 free S5, Italy\u2019s<strong> Francesco Bocciardo<\/strong> earned his second gold medal of the meet. He won the race in 1:09.56. China\u2019s <strong>Wang Lichao<\/strong> took the silver in 1:10.45 and Brazil\u2019s D<strong>aniel de Faria Dias<\/strong> won the bronze in 1:10.80.<\/p>\n<p>In the 100 free S4, Japan\u2019s <strong>Takayuki Suzuki<\/strong> claimed his second medal of the games, winning in 1:21.58. Italy\u2019s <strong>Luigi Beggiato<\/strong> took the silver in 1:21.21, while Russian Paralympic Committee\u2019s <strong>Roman Zhdanov<\/strong> took the bronze in 1:26.95.<\/p>\n<p>In the 200 IM SM6 final, Colombia\u2019s <strong>Nelson Crispin Corzo<\/strong> won the gold medal in 2:38.12. Russian Paralympic Committee\u2019s <strong>Andrei<\/strong> <strong>Granichka<\/strong> took the silver medal in 2:40.92 and China\u2019s<strong> Jia Hongguang<\/strong> took the bronze in 2:41.29.<\/p>\n<p>In the 400 free S11 class, <strong>Rogier Dorsman<\/strong> of the Netherlands won his first gold of the games in 4:28.47. Japan\u2019s <strong>Uchu Tomita<\/strong> took the silver medal in 4:31.69, while China\u2019s <strong>Hua Dongdong<\/strong> won the bronze in 4:34.89.<\/p>\n<p>In the 100 breaststroke S89 class, Italy\u2019s <strong>Stefano Raimondi<\/strong> earned gold, touching the wall in 1:05.35. Russian Paralympic Committee\u2019s <strong>Artem Isaev<\/strong> took the silver in 1:07.45, while teammate <strong>Dmitrii Bartaninskii<\/strong> took the bronze (1:08.06).<\/p>\n<p>In the 100 breaststroke SB8 class, Russian Paralympic Committee\u2019s Andrei Kalina won gold in 1:07.24.
