Photo Courtesy: Speedo Australia<\/p><\/div>\n<p>And he will be joined by teammates, Games debutants <strong>Alex Tuckfield<\/strong> (NSW) and <strong>William Martin<\/strong> (QLD) who are currently ranked third and fourth respectively in this year\u2019s rankings, with Frenchman <strong>Ugo Didier<\/strong>, the number one.<\/p>\n<p>They will be among 16 members of the Australian Swim Team who will take to the blocks for the opening session at the Tokyo Aquatic Centre on Wednesday (10am AEST).<\/p>\n<p>When asked about the differences in his approach when he debuted back in Beijing in 2008 to today in Tokyo 13 years later Hall didn\u2019t hesitate, saying \u201cI\u2019m a lot older now and a lot wiser. I can\u2019t go in guns blazing all the time like I used to back then. It\u2019s a lot more like trying to look after the body and approach it with a little bit more finesse.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>And his thoughts on chasing gold number three in the 400m freestyle, Hall is adamant about one thing.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m always one for a challenge, I love a challenge. If somebody tells me I can\u2019t do this, my mentality is that I kind of like to stick it to them a little bit,\u201d said Hall.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m here to do the best I possibly can: if that means defending my title, so be it. I\u2019ll take every opportunity I have got to do the best for myself and my country and my family back home. Patterson<\/strong>, featuring with Dolphin leader and decorated Paralympian, <strong>Ellie Cole. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Patterson secured the gold in Rio swimming as an S8, so she\u2019ll be looking to snare the crown across two classifications.<\/p>\n<p>Recording a time of 4:39.55 at the Australian Multi-Class Swimming Championships on the Gold Coast in April, Patterson currently holds the fastest time of the year in the 400m free (S9), while Cole sits fourth in the world rankings.<\/p>\n<p>After securing silver in the Men\u2019s 100m Freestyle (S8) at the 2019 World Para Champs in London, Western Australia\u2019s <strong>Ben Popham<\/strong> continues to display his talents in the event \u2013 breaking the Australian record for the S8 classification at the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/photo-gallery-australias-paralympic-swimmers-have-been-the-talk-of-the-tokyo-trials-in-adelaide-this-week\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Australian Swimming<\/a> Trials in June.<\/p>\n<p>He has a personal best of 57.37, and will go-head-to-head with \u201cThe Golden\u201d Greek <strong>Dimosthenis Michalentzakis,<\/strong> who beat Popham to the gold at the World Para Champs by just 0.2secs.<\/p>\n<p>Making his debut appearance representing Australia, <strong>Ben Hance<\/strong> (QLD) will pull on his cap alongside <strong>Ricky Betar<\/strong> (NSW) and <strong>Liam Schluter<\/strong> (QLD) in the Men\u2019s 100m Butterfly (S14).<\/p>\n<p>In a very competitive field, the trio will be up for a challenge against their counterparts from Brazil, Japan, USA and Great Britain.<\/p>\n<p>Also donning the green and gold for the first time in their careers will be former WA surf lifesaving ironman <strong>Thomas Gallagher <\/strong>(QLD) from the Queensland Gold Coast and <strong>Kirralee Hayes <\/strong>(QLD)<strong> ,<\/strong> with Gallagher to line up in the Men\u2019s 50m Freestyle (S10) and Hayes to feature in the Women\u2019s 100m Butterfly (S13).<\/p>\n<p>Other Australian swimmers in action on day one are:<br \/>\nWomen\u2019s 100m Butterfly (S14) \u2013 <strong>Ruby Storm
