With the COVID-19 pandemic denying spectators the opportunity to witness the action in person, there was certainly a different atmosphere to the competition.<\/p>\n<p>Still, the athletes answered the call and produced memorable performances, from <strong>Emma McKeon<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/olympics-emma-mckeon-ties-female-olympic-record-with-seven-medals-in-tokyo\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">claiming seven medals<\/a> to <strong>Caeleb<\/strong> <strong>Dressel<\/strong> winning five gold medals. There were also surprises, such as Tunisia\u2019s <strong>Ahmed Hafnaoui<\/strong> surging to victory in the 400 freestyle to <strong>Lydia Jacoby<\/strong> charging to the title in the 100 breaststroke.<\/p>\n<p>As of the end of the Tokyo Games, it\u2019s worth noting that four athletes \u2013 three men and a woman \u2013 own at least the top-three performances in a specific event. Dressel owns the three-fastest times in the 100 fly, and five of the six-fastest outings.
