14-Year-Old Lilla Bognar Swims 2:10 200 Backstroke at NCSA Summer Championships<\/strong><\/p>\n

During the first day of the NCSA Summer Championships in Huntsville, Alabama, 14-year-old\u00a0Lilla Bognar\u00a0<\/strong>of Team Greenville (S.C.) posted the most impressive performance with a 2:10.62 in the women’s 200 backstroke. Bognar actually dropped eight seconds in the event, since she arrived in Huntsville with a seed time of 2:18.66 and then swam a 2:14.72 for the third seed out of prelims before dropping the hammer again at night. She finished about a second and a half ahead of NOVA’s\u00a0Zoe Dixon<\/strong> (2:12.06).<\/p>\n

Interestingly, Bognar’s time ranks behind the 2:09.57 that\u00a0Teagan O’Dell<\/strong><\/a> swam at the Speedo Junior Championships last week in Irvine<\/a>, while the NAG record in the event belongs to 2012 Olympic gold medalist\u00a0Missy Franklin\u00a0<\/strong>in 2:09.16.<\/p>\n

Zionsville’s\u00a0Will Modglin\u00a0<\/strong>was the winner in the men’s 200 back in 2:02.98.\u00a0Sydney Smith<\/strong> beat out\u00a0Campbell Chase\u00a0<\/strong>by two tenths to win the women’s 100 free, 56.88 to 57.08, and the men’s 100 free went to\u00a0Kledi Kadiu<\/strong> in 51.27, barely over\u00a0Noah Dyer<\/strong> in 51.41.<\/p>\n

Anna Auld<\/strong> earned a 10-second win the women’s 1500 free with her time of 16:46.40, and the men’s 800 free saw\u00a0Alec Enyeart<\/strong> capture first place in 8:02.16.<\/p>\n

The 50 butterfly winners were\u00a0Letitia Sim\u00a0<\/strong>(27.50) and\u00a0Aleksa Radenovic<\/strong> (25.05), and Sim joined with younger sister\u00a0Levenia<\/strong>,\u00a0Cequiya York<\/strong> and\u00a0Megan Cororan<\/strong> to win the women’s 200 medley relay in 1:55.40. Zionsville’s\u00a0Modglin,\u00a0John Donovan<\/strong>,\u00a0Charles Krone<\/strong> and\u00a0William Raches<\/strong> took first in the men’s 200 medley relay in 1:43.47.<\/p>\n
