The facility will also be open to the community.<\/p>\n<p>Florida Power &amp; Light is one of the first sponsors of the project. Dr. <strong>Bill Kent<\/strong>, chairman of the board of the International Swimming Hall of Fame and a trustee at Keiser, has pledged a $500,000 matching donation. A fundraising dinner has been planned for next April, with a goal go break ground on the facility in the next 18 months.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is our dream and part of our mission to be of service \u2026 not only to our athletes, but the greater community,\u201d university vice chancellor <strong>Belinda Keiser<\/strong> said <a href=\"https:\/\/www.palmbeachpost.com\/story\/news\/local\/westpb\/2021\/08\/10\/keiser-university-plans-8-million-aquatics-center-olympic-sized-pool\/5540697001\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">at an event Monday<\/a>. \u201cWe plan to be another resource to help children and adults swim.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">We are excited to officially announce the Keiser University Aquatic Center!! This facility will not only benefit our team but our West Palm community as a whole as we hope to make it a center for all to learn to swim and be water safe ?\u200d\u2640\ufe0f <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/bgYIas0F0i\">pic.twitter.com\/bgYIas0F0i<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Keiser Men&#8217;s and Women&#8217;s Swimming (@Keiser_Swimming) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Keiser_Swimming\/status\/1424834460017643523?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">August 9, 2021<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>Keiser is a national powerhouse, having won three consecutive <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/2020-naia-swimming-and-diving-championships-day-4-keiser-men-scad-women-clinch-titles\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">men\u2019s NAIA team championships.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The funding for the new center is being linked with new <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/florida-legislators-support-ishof-inspired-bill-promoting-every-child-a-swimmer-before-kindergarten\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Every Child a Swimmer legislation in Florida<\/a>. The state\u2019s lieutenant governor, <strong>Jeannette Nunez,<\/strong> and state fire marshal <strong>Julius Halas<\/strong> attended Monday\u2019s announcement. University officials did not offer insight on Keiser\u2019s role on how swimming access would work with the community, but they did hint at the possibility of the facility bidding to host national meets upon its completion.<\/p>\n<p>Keiser currently uses <a href=\"https:\/\/kuseahawks.com\/facilities\/lake-lytal-aquatic-center\/46\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Lake Lytal Aquatic Center<\/a>, for training and meets.
