Recognized for their excellence in the classroom, in addition to on their respective playing surfaces, six Stanford student-athletes have been named CoSIDA Academic All-Americans. Brooke Forde<\/strong> was named the Academic All-America Women’s At-Large Team member of the year, and was one of two first team Academic All-Americans, joining Emily<\/strong> Arbuthnott. Tyler Abramson<\/strong> and Shane Griffith<\/strong> were second team honorees, while Axel Geller<\/strong> and Alex Liang<\/strong> earned third team nods.<\/p>\n

Brooke Forde won the first Olympic medal of her career at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics as part of the Team USA<\/a> swimming relay pool. She anchored the United States to the second-fastest time in the 4x200m free relay prelims (7:47.57). A member of two NCAA championship teams, Forde is a four-time NCAA national champion including the 2021 400 individual medley title and 15-time NCAA All-American overall. She is a four-time Pac-12 champion and has been a member of three Pac-12 championship teams. Forde is a three-time CSCAA Scholar All-American and three-time Pac-12 All-Academic pick including the Pac-12 Scholar-Athlete of the Year. She was the 2018 Pac-12 Women’s Swimming Newcomer of the Year.<\/p>\n

Brooke Forde is the fourth Stanford student-athlete to win women’s at-large team member of the year, and the third since 2018. She joins Makenzie Fischer<\/strong> (2019, water polo), Katie Ledecky<\/strong> (2018, swimming) and Sandra Birch<\/strong> (1991, tennis) with the award.<\/p>\n

A management, science and engineering major, Abramson earns his first Academic All-America honor, featuring a dominant season in the pool matched with a 3.60 GPA. Named first-team All-America by the ACWPC each of the last two seasons, Abramson led the team in goals, shots and points during the 2020 season and has helped lead Stanford to three straight NCAA Tournament appearances, including a national title in 2019 and runner-up in 2018.<\/p>\n

Liang earned the first CoSIDA Academic All-America honor after a dominant senior season. The Palo Alto, Calif., native was named the inaugural Pac-12 Men’s Swimming and Diving Scholar-Athlete of the Year, and was named a second-team All-American in the 400 IM.<\/p>\n

With the six at-large selections, Stanford has combined for 22 Academic All-America awards this season, led by Brooke Forde.<\/p>\n
