\u2018I\u2019m a Champion\u2019: Simone Manuel Offers Dose of Perspective on Olympics<\/strong><\/p>\n

Simone Manuel<\/strong> hasn\u2019t had the Olympics she would\u2019ve wanted in Tokyo, after not having the Olympic Trials she would\u2019ve wanted.<\/p>\n

But after opening about her mental health in dealing with the pressure and revealing a diagnosis of overtraining syndrome<\/a>, Manuel shared her thoughts on the Tokyo Games on Instagram Saturday.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis may not be how I would have written my story, but I\u2019m at peace knowing that God is the ultimate Author of my journey,\u201d Manuel wrote. \u201cHe is always in control, and He always has much bigger plans for our lives than we can even imagine.\u201d<\/p>\n

Manuel isn\u2019t coming home from Tokyo empty-handed. She was a crucial part in the U.S. salvaging bronze from the 400 free relay<\/a>, with Manuel one of four new swimmers for the final and drawing the anchor leg. She qualified for Tokyo in only the 50 freestyle and didn\u2019t make it out of semis in that event, tying for 11th in 24.63 seconds.<\/p>\n
