The schedule includes the women\u2019s 100 freestyle, men\u2019s 200 backstroke, women&#8217;s 200 breaststroke, men&#8217;s 200 IM and women\u2019s 800 freestyle relay.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/meet\/2020-tokyo-olympic-games\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Full Olympics coverage<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/olympics.com\/tokyo-2020\/olympic-games\/en\/results\/swimming\/olympic-schedule-and-results.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Event schedule and results<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/vmrw8k5h.tinifycdn.com\/results\/pdf\/2021-tokyo-olympics-day-five-prelims-heat-sheets-international-elite-2021-07-24.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Day five prelims heat sheets<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The top two seeds in the women&#8217;s 100 free are Australians <strong>Cate Campbell<\/strong> and\u00a0<strong>Emma McKeon<\/strong>, who teamed up to lead their team to gold in the women&#8217;s 400 free relay on day one.\u00a0<strong>Sarah Sjostrom<\/strong>, who out-performed her own expectations in the 100 fly coming off an injury, will be the third seed, and while Canada&#8217;s <strong>Penny Oleksiak\u00a0<\/strong>will defend the gold medal she tied for in 2016, American\u00a0<strong>Simone Manuel<\/strong> is not competing, with\u00a0<strong>Abbey Weitzeil<\/strong> and\u00a0<strong>Erika Brown<\/strong> on deck.<\/p>\n<p>The men&#8217;s 200 back sees Russia&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Evgeny Rylov<\/strong> as the top seed after capturing Olympic gold in the 100 back already, while\u00a0<strong>Ryan Murphy<\/strong> of the U.S. will aim for some payback after Rylov took him down in the 100 back and in the 200-meter event at the last two world championships.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Tatjana Schoenmaker<\/strong> was a big surprise in the 100 breast as she broke the Olympic record and held the top seed through prelims and semifinals before fading to second in the final. But the South African is the top seed in the 200 breast, while King and fellow American\u00a0<strong>Annie Lazor<\/strong> will swim in the middle lanes in heat three and British teammates\u00a0<strong>Molly Renshaw<\/strong> and\u00a0<strong>Abbie Wood<\/strong> will be next to each other in heat two.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Michael Andrew<\/strong> begins his pursuit of Olympic gold in the men&#8217;s 200 IM as the top seed with\u00a0<strong>Duncan Scott<\/strong>, already a silver medalist in the 200 free and gold medalist in the 800 free relay, set to swim next to Andrew in the final heat.<\/p>\n<p>Finally, the Australians will be heavy favorites in the women&#8217;s 800 free relay, even though 200 and 400 free gold medalist\u00a0<strong>Ariarne Titmus <\/strong> will likely sit out prelims before joining the squad for the final.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Olympics: Day Five Prelims Heat Sheets Posted;
