Beginning at 10:30 a.m. Tokyo time Tuesday morning (9:30 p.m. ET\/6:30 p.m. PT Monday in the USA), the session will include four finals in succession with no break for semifinals: the men&#8217;s 200 freestyle, women&#8217;s 100 backstroke, men&#8217;s 100 backstroke and women&#8217;s 100 breaststroke. Semifinals for the women&#8217;s 200 freestyle will open the session, and then two heats of the men&#8217;s 200 butterfly and women&#8217;s 200 IM will wrap things up.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/olympics.com\/tokyo-2020\/olympic-games\/en\/results\/swimming\/olympic-schedule-and-results.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Event schedule<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/vmrw8k5h.tinifycdn.com\/results\/pdf\/2021-tokyo-olympics-day-three-finals-heat-sheets-international-elite-2021-07-24.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Heat sheets<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>For the men&#8217;s 200 free final, Great Britain&#8217;s world No. 1\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/olympic-semifinals-duncan-scott-kieran-smith-lead-finalists-in-mens-200-free\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Duncan Scott<\/strong> holds the top qualifying time out of semifinals with his 1:44.60<\/a>, while American\u00a0<strong>Kieran Smith<\/strong> continued his excellent Olympics by qualifying second in 1:45.07. Three other swimmers in the final (<strong>Tom Dean<\/strong>, <strong>Hwang Sun-Woo<\/strong> and\u00a0<strong>Martin Malyutin<\/strong>) have all broken 1:45 this year, while Lithuania&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Danas Rapsys<\/strong> has the quickest lifetime best of the bunch.<\/p>\n<p>The women&#8217;s 100 back saw the Olympic record go down four times over the first two rounds, with\u00a0<strong>Kylie Masse<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Regan Smith<\/strong> and <strong>Kaylee McKeown<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/olympics-kaylee-mckeown-last-of-three-to-set-100-back-olympic-record\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">claiming the record in successive preliminary heats<\/a> before <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/olympics-regan-smith-regains-100-back-olympic-record-sets-up-huge-showdown-for-gold-with-mckeown-and-masse\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Smith broke it again in semifinals<\/a>. They are the three fastest women in history in the event, and they will battle for Olympic gold with McKeown in lane three, Smith in four and Masse in five.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/olympic-semifinals-ryan-murphy-makes-move-leads-finalists-in-mens-100-backstroke\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Ryan Murphy<\/strong> holds down lane four<\/a> for as he tries to defend his Olympic gold medal in the men&#8217;s 100 back, but 21-year-old <strong>Kliment Kolesnikov<\/strong> of Russia will be right there as Kolesnikov actually has the top time so far in Tokyo, a 52.15 from prelims. Expect China&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Xu Jiayu<\/strong> and Russia&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Evgeny Rylov<\/strong> to also be in the hunt.<\/p>\n<p>Finally,\u00a0<strong>Lilly King<\/strong> faces her toughest challenger in the 100 breast in years as South Africa&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Tatjana Schoenmaker<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/olympics-tatjana-schoenmaker-sets-olympic-record-in-100-breast\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">broke King&#8217;s Olympic record from 2016 in prelims<\/a> and then <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/olympics-tatjana-schoenmaker-beats-lilly-king-head-to-head-in-100-breast-semifinals\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">edged out the American in their semifinal heat<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, the USA&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Katie Ledecky<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/olympics-katie-ledecky-returns-from-silver-medal-earlier-in-day-to-top-qualifying-in-200-freestyle\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">led the way into the women&#8217;s 200 free semifinals<\/a>, and world-record holder <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/olympics-kristof-milak-cruises-to-top-seed-in-200-butterfly\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Kristof Milak<\/strong> has the top spot in the men&#8217;s 200 fly<\/a>.
