Events on the program for day two include the women&#8217;s 100 backstroke, men&#8217;s 200 freestyle, women&#8217;s 100 breaststroke, men&#8217;s 100 backstroke, women&#8217;s 400 freestyle and men&#8217;s 400 freestyle relay.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/olympics.com\/tokyo-2020\/olympic-games\/en\/results\/swimming\/olympic-schedule-and-results.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Event schedule<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/results\/2021-tokyo-olympics-day-two-prelims-heat-sheets\/international-elite\/2021\/July\/24?rtn=%2Fresults%2Fresultlist.aspx%3Fmanage%3Dtrue%26page%3D1%26orderBy%3DResult.MeetStartDateTime%26sortDirection%3D1%26q%3D\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Day two prelims heat sheets<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The women&#8217;s 100 back will see new world-record holder\u00a0<strong>Kaylee McKeown<\/strong> and former world-record holder\u00a0<strong>Regan Smith<\/strong> each make their Olympic debuts in the pool, while a deep field of 1:44s led by\u00a0<strong>Danas Rapsys<\/strong> and <strong>Duncan Scott<\/strong> will lead the way in the men&#8217;s 200 free.\u00a0<strong>Lilly King<\/strong> returns to the pool for the first time since the then-19-year-old won two gold medals in Rio as she is the heavy favorite in the women&#8217;s 100 breast, while the four primary contenders for gold will swim in the men&#8217;s 100 back.\u00a0<strong>Evgeny Rylov<\/strong> and defending Olympic champion <strong>Ryan Murphy<\/strong> will be swimming together in the final heat, while\u00a0<strong>Kliment Kolesnikov<\/strong> and two-time world champion\u00a0<strong>Xu Jiayu<\/strong> will each be in their own heats.<\/p>\n<p>The first showdown of the Tokyo Olympics between\u00a0<strong>Ariarne Titmus<\/strong> and\u00a0<strong>Katie Ledecky<\/strong> will have to wait until the women&#8217;s 400 freestyle final Monday morning in Japan (Sunday evening in the U.S.), but each swimmer will look to put down strong qualifying times in the heats.
