Swimmers who finished with a 3.50 GPA or higher and were invited to compete at their national championships were named to the First Team, while those who earned a &#8220;B&#8221; qualifying time for the NCAA championship or competed at zone diving meets were named to the second Team. These criteria applied to Division I, Division II and NJCAA. For Division III and NAIA, a list of qualifying times were used in place of national championship qualification because of the cancellation of those meets.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Maggie MacNeil<\/strong>, who <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/maggie-macneil-blasts-48-89-to-smash-ncaa-record-in-100-butterfly\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">captured two individual<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/maggie-macneil-nearly-becomes-third-under-46-seconds-in-100-freestyle-for-second-ncaa-title\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">NCAA titles<\/a> this spring and will be a significant contender for Olympic gold in the 100 fly later this month, was named CSCAA scholar-swimmer of the year along with McKendree&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Fabio Dalu<\/strong>, and Colorado Mesa&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Ammar Hassan<\/strong> was the diver of the year. Three swimmers who qualified for the U.S. Olympic team,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/rhyan-white-phoebe-bacon-keep-world-record-holder-regan-smith-out-of-200-back-in-tokyo\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Phoebe Bacon<\/strong><\/a>,\u00a0<strong>Drew Kibler<\/strong> and\u00a0<strong>Brooks Curry<\/strong>, were also named to the team.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cscaa.org\/news\/2020625\/scholar-hmebp\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">full list of honorees from the CSCAA is available here<\/a>, and you can read their full release below.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>The College Swimming &amp; Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) named 789 swimmers and divers to its Scholar All-American Team for the 2020-21 season. The award recognizes students who achieved a grade point average of 3.50 or higher and were invited to compete at their respective national championship.<\/p>\n<p>Highlighting the teams were CSCAA Diver-of-the-Year <strong>Ammar Hassan<\/strong> (Colorado Mesa), swimmers-of-the-year <strong>Maggie MacNeil<\/strong> (Michigan) and <strong>Fabio Dalu<\/strong> (McKendree), and newly-named Olympians <strong>Phoebe<\/strong> Bacon (Wisconsin) and <strong>Brooks<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>Curry<\/strong> (Louisiana State), and <strong>Drew Kibler<\/strong> (Texas).<\/p>\n<p>To qualify for First-Team Scholar All-America, student-athletes must have earned a GPA of 3.5 or higher and participated in their national championship.\u00a0 Second-Team selections (also called Honorable Mention) must have also earned a 3.50 GPA or higher and achieved a &#8220;B&#8221; time standard for the national championship or participated at a diving zone qualification meet. Due to the cancellation of the Division III and NAIA championship, the CSCAA established time standards for qualification based on a standard deviation of previous national championship participation.\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/cscaa.us11.list-manage.com\/track\/click?u=4431f0555af57dfc9f32bb291&amp;id=a34be70081&amp;e=d859a37e86\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/cscaa.us11.list-manage.com\/track\/click?u%3D4431f0555af57dfc9f32bb291%26id%3Da34be70081%26e%3Dd859a37e86&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1625672702376000&amp;usg=AFQjCNHFAkvB9pIbOPf9O8DKE4oi7rGApg\">All criteria can be found on the CSCAA website.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The award-winners studied a multitude of subjects ranging from A (Accounting) to Z (Zoology). More than a third (35%) of all award-winners are pursuing a major in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) field. Business majors were the second-most represented with 23% of recipients followed by the social sciences (13%).
