WASHINGTON State honored its senior class Friday night by beating fellow Pac-12 school Oregon State, 148-114. Emma Johansson and Nicole Proulx each won two individual events to lead the Cougars to the win.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Washington State Press Release<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Washington State swimming team notched a 148-114 victory over Oregon State in its last home dual meet of the season Friday at Gibb Pool.<\/p>\n<p>The Cougars collectively won five of 12 individual events and both relays. Senior Emma Johansson and junior Nicole Proulx were the highest scorers Friday for Washington State with 18 points each.<\/p>\n<p>To start the meet, the relay team of Johansson, Anne Kenney, Alison Mand, and Haley Rose Love outpaced the competition in the 200 medley relay, winning the event with a time of 1:44.35.<\/p>\n<p>Proulx and Johansson struck next for the Cougars with individual victories in the 200 free and 100 back, respectively. Both Proulx and Johansson were also victors of events later in the meet. Proulx won the 100 free with a time of 51.58, and Johansson placed first in the 100 fly with a time of 55.62.<\/p>\n<p>Just before the first break, Washington State extended its lead by taking the top three spots in the 50 free. Love notched a first-place finish with a time of 23.90, and was followed closely by teammates Kenney and Mand. The two tied for second place with identical times of 24.18.<\/p>\n<p>The Cougars solidified their victory over Oregon State with a victory in the 400 free relay to conclude the meet. The relay team of Proulx, Love, Johansson, and Kenney finished first in the event with a time of 3:29.44.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe were tired last week,\u201d Washington State Head Coach Tom Jager said. \u201cOf course we are still tired, but we had a little bit different energy. You can see it, and we knew it but we just had to find it. They found it this week and I appreciated that.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Washington State celebrated the careers of seniors Taylor Indahl, Johansson, Kenney, Heather Morlan, and Kelly Tannhauser at Friday\u2019s meet for senior day.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThese kids stuck with me when I came over here,\u201d Jager said. \u201cThey were sophomores when I got here. These five have gone through a lot, and they bought into my program. They listened to me and they are seeing success, and I couldn\u2019t be prouder of them. Those five kids have helped me build this team. Without them I couldn\u2019t have done it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Cougars improve to 3-5 in dual meets this season with the victory over the Beavers.<\/p>\n<p>The next competition for Washington State is a dual meet against BYU in Provo, Utah.
