NEW COMMIT:\u00a0<\/strong>Distance freestyle specialist Annalena “Lena” Siering<\/strong> of Santa Monica, Calif. will remain in-state for her college career after verbally committing to the University of California, Santa Barbara beginning in 2022.<\/p>\n

She will join Samantha Banos<\/b><\/a>, Hazel Derr<\/b><\/a>,\u00a0Isabella Urlando<\/b><\/a>,<\/b>\u00a0Alyssa Lund<\/b><\/a>,\u00a0<\/b>Vivian Mudry<\/b><\/a>,\u00a0<\/b>Olivia Hovorka<\/b><\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0Nina Statler<\/b><\/a>\u00a0as members of the Gauchos\u2019 Class of 2026.<\/p>\n

Regarding her commitment, she said:<\/p>\n

“I am very thankful to Coach Mohammad and Coach Iman at TSM. They helped me prepare tremendously for this new adventure. I am also very excited to be working with Coach Matt and his team to try to win as many championships as possible with UCSB. Go, Gauchos!”<\/strong><\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Siering does her club swimming with Team Santa Monica and is an Open Water Junior National qualifier. She placed fifth in the 1500m free and 11th in the 800m free at the 18&U Spring Cup – Irvine in April after earning bronze in the 1000 free at St. George Sectionals in March.<\/p>\n
