While watching this monumental moment, some may have just considered this a right of passage. But <em>Swimming World<\/em> was curious to investigate:\u00a0 How many righties and lefties are there on Team USA?<\/p>\n<p>Well, there are 45 &#8220;righties&#8221; and 7 &#8220;lefties&#8221; &#8211; 3 of those 52 athletes consider themselves ambidextrous! Ambidextrous in sport, too.&#8221; Haley earned a spot on Team USA in open water but also swam at the Olympic Trials in Omaha, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/u-s-olympic-trials-katie-ledecky-makes-history-as-1500-freestyle-door-opened-to-women\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">placing 4th in both the 1500<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/401-400-free-qualifies-katie-ledecky-for-olympics-but-shes-still-underdog-for-tokyo\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">400 freestyle<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/tyr-pro-series-katie-ledecky-blazes-to-800-free-win-posts-time-only-she-has-bettered\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">3rd in the 800.<\/a><\/div>\n<h4>\u2022Ryan Murphy<\/h4>\n<div>&#8220;It depends what I\u2019m doing, but I write lefty! I basically throw, write, kick with left. But if I\u2019m holding something, I&#8217;m a righty. So I golf and bat right.&#8221;<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<p><em>Note: All findings are from watching the drum signing and\/or confirmed by the athletes themselves. Molly is a member of the NSU Sharks Swim Team, a Division II program located in the Sunshine State Conference. She is currently a dual admission sophomore and plans to graduate with a marketing major and communications minor in 2021, then an MBA in 2022.
