{"id":479632,"date":"2021-06-25T20:59:37","date_gmt":"2021-06-26T03:59:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/?p=479632"},"modified":"2021-06-25T20:59:37","modified_gmt":"2021-06-26T03:59:37","slug":"nebraska-names-landon-marzullo-head-diving-coach","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/nebraska-names-landon-marzullo-head-diving-coach\/","title":{"rendered":"Nebraska Names Landon Marzullo Head Diving Coach"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Landon Marzullo<\/strong> has been hired as the head diving coach at Nebraska, joining the staff of head coach <strong>Pablo Morales.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Marzullo was part of the staff <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/landon-marzullo-hired-as-wisconsin-diving-coach\/\">at Wisconsin in 2019-20<\/a>, working with the men\u2019s and women\u2019s teams. He spent three seasons before that UNLV, leading the Rebels to three conference titles. He was named the 2019 Western Athletic Conference Diving Coach of the Year. Under Marzullo\u2019s watch, UNLV ended a 20-year drought of divers at women\u2019s NCAAs (<strong>Myka Fielding<\/strong>) and 30-year drought at men\u2019s NCAAs (<strong>Tazman Abramowicz<\/strong>). Marzullo was also the head coach of Rebel Diving Club from 2015-19.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Landon brings an outstanding coaching skill set to this position, derived from a high-level competitive career, his own coaching experiences, and being around some of the best coaches in the business,&#8221; Morales said <a href=\"https:\/\/huskers.com\/news\/2021\/6\/24\/swimming-and-diving-marzullo-named-nebraska-diving-coach.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">in a university statement.<\/a> &#8220;He has made an immediate positive impact at each of his coaching stops. With his skill, energy and positive approach, he has gotten the best out of his divers, supported high achievement in the classroom, and successfully recruited both domestically and internationally. He will do the same here at Nebraska. Husker diving is in great hands.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Marzullo was the Big Ten Diver of the Year in 2008 as a freshman at Indiana, then transferred to Florida State for his final two seasons. He was a 10-time All-American (four first-team appearances), finishing at high as fifth on platform at NCAAs as a sophomore in 2009. He was a two-time Big Ten champion and an ACC runner-up on three occasions. Marzullo represented the U.S. at the World University Games in 2011, finishing fourth in the three-meter synchronized event. He won a silver medal at the 2011 national championships.<\/p>\n<p>After his competitive career, Marzullo worked as a high diver for Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines from 2013-15. He was a volunteer assistant at Ohio State from 2012-13.<\/p>\n<p>Marzullo replaces <strong>Natasha Chikina,<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/rutgers-hires-natasha-chikina-away-from-nebraska-as-new-diving-coach\/\">who left Nebraska to take the same position at Rutgers<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Landon Marzullo has been hired as the head diving coach at Nebraska, joining the staff of head coach Pablo Morales.
