USA Swimming announced the names on Sunday night, just after the last events of Trials.<\/p>\n<p>Selected to the staff were <strong>Gregg Troy<\/strong>, <strong>Anthony Nesty<\/strong>, <strong>Peter Andrew<\/strong>, <strong>Teri McKeever<\/strong>, <strong>Todd DeSorbo<\/strong>, <strong>Bob Bowman<\/strong>, <strong>Jack<\/strong> <strong>Bauerle<\/strong> and <strong>Ray Looze<\/strong>. The open-water coach, which was previously announced, is <strong>Catherine Kase<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Bauerle\u2019s athletes starred from the opening event, where <strong>Chase Kalisz<\/strong> and <strong>Jay Litherland<\/strong> represented the Athens Bullodgs with a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/us-olympic-trials-deja-vu-chase-kalisz-jay-litherland-to-represent-team-usa-in-400-im-in-tokyo\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">one-two finish in the 400-meter individual medley<\/a>. Kalisz also qualified in the 200 medley and Bauerle also guided <strong>Andrew Wilson<\/strong> (100 breaststroke\/200 breaststroke), <strong>Olivia Smoliga<\/strong> (400 freestyle relay), <strong>Natalie Hinds<\/strong> (400 freestyle relay) and <strong>Nic Fink<\/strong> (200 breaststroke) onto the American roster bound for Japan.<\/p>\n<p>Troy and Nesty guided their athletes &#8211; all with University of Florida ties &#8211; to a sweep of the men&#8217;s freestyle events, as <strong>Caeleb Dressel<\/strong> (50\/100), <strong>Kieran Smith<\/strong> (200\/400) and <strong>Bobby Finke<\/strong> (800\/1500) managed doubles. Andrew is the father and coach to <strong>Michael<\/strong> <strong>Andrew<\/strong>, who will represent the United States in the 50 freestyle, 100 breaststroke and 200 individual medley. Meanwhile, McKeever guided <strong>Abbey Weitzeil<\/strong> (50 free\/100 free) and <strong>Katie McLaughin<\/strong> (800 free relay) onto the Tokyo roster.<\/p>\n<p>DeSorbo, whose University of Virginia women&#8217;s squad won the NCAA title last March, has three athletes on the team in <strong>Paige Madden<\/strong> (400 free\/800 free relay), <strong>Alex Walsh<\/strong> (200 individual medley), <strong>Kate Douglass<\/strong> (200 IM) and <strong>Catie Deloof<\/strong> (400 free relay).
