CLEVELAND, Ohio, Jan. 20. THE new year is less than three weeks old, but what a year it\u2019s been thus far for the Case Western Reserve University men\u2019s and women\u2019s swimming and diving teams. <\/p>\n
With their home victories over Ohio Wesleyan University this past Friday — the men won 117-67, the women 121-83 — the men's and women's squads improved 4-0 and 5-2, respectively for 2003.<\/p>\n
Prior to the New Year, the Spartan men defeated Allegheny College (120-69) at home and lost to Denison University (121-164) and Carnegie Mellon University (115-165) on the road. This month, besides Ohio
\nWesleyan, they have beaten Southwestern University (145-80) at home and the College of Wooster (65-46) and Oberlin College (73-26) on the road. <\/p>\n
The women have followed the same path with wins over Allegheny (133-107), Southwestern (182-133), Wooster (62-50, Oberlin (91-22), and Ohio Wesleyan (121-83). They lost to Denison (121-164) and Carnegie Mellon
\n(138-162). That is good momentum for them as they have two more dual meets (Jan. 25 vs. Kenyon & Feb. 1 @ Wittenberg) before hosting the 2003 University Athletic Association Championships next month (Feb.
\n13-15). <\/p>\n
