With six weeks until the Olympic Games, the United States will be selecting its Olympic team this week in Omaha, Nebraska. The finals of the men&#8217;s 100 free and 200 breast, and the women&#8217;s 200 fly will be held on Thursday night while the first ever final of the men&#8217;s 800 free will be held to open the night session. Finals will begin at 7 p.m. CST and will be streamed on NBCOlympics.com and on NBC.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/stream.nbcolympics.com\/swimming-us-trials-day-5-finals\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Live Stream<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.omegatiming.com\/2021\/us-olympic-team-trials-wave-ii-live-results\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Live Results<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/vmrw8k5h.tinifycdn.com\/results\/pdf\/2021-us-olympic-trials-day-five-finals-heat-sheets-day-5-usa-senior-national-2021-06-17.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Heat Sheets<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Caeleb Dressel\u00a0<\/strong>is the top man to beat in the 100 freestyle and has yet to get on the team to Tokyo as four relay spots are on the line in that event.\u00a0<strong>Zach Apple<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Blake Pieroni\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0<strong>Ryan Held\u00a0<\/strong>follow him in second, third and fourth as the 4&#215;100 free relay for the Olympics will start to shape up tonight.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Hali Flickinger\u00a0<\/strong>is the top seed in the 200 butterfly and will be looking to make her second event for the Olympics after getting runner-up in the 400 IM on Sunday night. She finished second in the 2016 Trials and will be the gold medal favorite in Tokyo if she is to make the team tonight. She is followed by 100 back champ\u00a0<strong>Regan Smith<\/strong>, who is already on the team and can let it sail here. 17-year-old\u00a0<strong>Charlotte Hook\u00a0<\/strong>will be looking to join her club teammate\u00a0<strong>Claire Curzan\u00a0<\/strong>finishing second in the 100 fly on the plane to Tokyo.<\/p>\n<p>18-year-old\u00a0<strong>Matt Fallon\u00a0<\/strong>is the surprising top seed in the 200 breaststroke ahead of three 27-year-olds\u00a0<strong>Nic Fink<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Kevin Cordes\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0<strong>Andrew Wilson<\/strong>, along with 26-year-old\u00a0<strong>Will Licon<\/strong>. Wilson is already on the team by virtue of his 100 breaststroke runner-up finish, while Fink, Licon and Cordes are on their last gasp to make the team.<\/p>\n<p>The first two Olympians will be named for the men&#8217;s 800 freestyle with 19-year-old\u00a0<strong>Will Gallant\u00a0<\/strong>coming in as the top seed ahead of heavy favorite <strong>Bobby Finke\u00a0<\/strong>of the University of Florida, and 10K open water Olympian\u00a0<strong>Jordan Wilimovsky<\/strong>, who will be out in lane eight. Fourth seed\u00a0<strong>Michael Brinegar\u00a0<\/strong>has a chance to be a second generation Olympian after his mother\u00a0<strong>Jennifer Hooker\u00a0<\/strong>swam at the 1976 Olympics.<\/p>\n<p>In semi-final action, reigning Olympic gold medalists <strong>Simone Manuel <\/strong>and\u00a0<strong>Ryan Murphy\u00a0<\/strong>will swim round two of the 100 free and 200 back in their pursuit of back to back gold medals. <strong>Ryan Lochte\u00a0<\/strong>will have an opportunity to advance to tomorrow night&#8217;s final in the 200 IM as the second seed while\u00a0<strong>Michael Andrew\u00a0<\/strong>is leading the semi finalists into tonight.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Lilly King\u00a0<\/strong>is swimming the 200 breast as well in semi finals as the third seed behind Indiana teammate <strong>Annie Lazor\u00a0<\/strong>and Virginia&#8217;s <strong>Ella Nelson<\/strong>, who has had three of her college teammates from Virginia make the team to Tokyo<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>After a five-year long wait, the US Olympic Trials have finally arrived.
