With six weeks until the Olympic Games, the United States will be selecting its Olympic team this week in Omaha, Nebraska. The finals of the women&#8217;s 200 free, 1500 free, and 200 IM, and the men&#8217;s 200 butterfly will be held on Wednesday night. Finals will begin at 7 p.m. CST and will be streamed on NBCOlympics.com and NBC.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/stream.nbcolympics.com\/swimming-us-trials-day-4-finals\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Live Stream<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.omegatiming.com\/2021\/us-olympic-team-trials-wave-ii-live-results\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Live Results<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/vmrw8k5h.tinifycdn.com\/results\/pdf\/2021-us-olympic-trials-day-four-finals-heat-sheets-day-4-usa-senior-national-2021-06-16.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Heat Sheets<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The first four relay spots will be on the line in the women&#8217;s 200 freestyle with top seed\u00a0<strong>Katie Ledecky\u00a0<\/strong>leading a slew of contenders for the 4&#215;200 free relay.\u00a0<strong>Allison Schmitt\u00a0<\/strong>is looking to make her fourth Olympics while eighth seed\u00a0<strong>Leah Smith\u00a0<\/strong>is trying to make her second. Every one else in the field is looking to make their first Olympic team as Virginia&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Paige Madden\u00a0<\/strong>is already on the team in the 400 freestyle.<\/p>\n<p>Ledecky will also be leading the 1500 free final later in the session with open water Olympians\u00a0<strong>Ashley Twichell\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0<strong>Haley Anderson\u00a0<\/strong>in the first ever 1500 Trials final. 20-year-old\u00a0<strong>Erica Sullivan\u00a0<\/strong>is seeded second and looking to make her first team in the newly added Olympic event.<\/p>\n<p>The Virginia Cavaliers have the top time in the women&#8217;s 200 IM final with potential first-time Olympians\u00a0<strong>Alex Walsh\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0<strong>Kate Douglass\u00a0<\/strong>in lanes four and five. 29-year-old\u00a0<strong>Melanie Margalis<\/strong>, who has been the face of the IM events in the United States the last four years, is looking at her last gasp to make the Olympic team from lane 2, while 26-year-old\u00a0<strong>Madisyn Cox\u00a0<\/strong>is pushing to make her first team.<\/p>\n<p>In the men&#8217;s 200 butterfly final,\u00a0<strong>Luca Urlando\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0<strong>Zach Harting\u00a0<\/strong>swam identical times in the semi finals and will have a tight battle with\u00a0<strong>Trenton Julian<\/strong>, who is looking to be the first second generation Olympian since <strong>Gary Hall, Jr.\u00a0<\/strong>made three teams in 1996, 2000 and 2004. Julian&#8217;s mother\u00a0<strong>Kristine Quance\u00a0<\/strong>swam for the United States at the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Caeleb Dressel<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Hali Flickinger<\/strong> and\u00a0<strong>Matt Fallon\u00a0<\/strong>are the top seeds in the 100 free, 200 fly and 200 breast respectively as they progress to round two of three to try and make tomorrow&#8217;s final.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>After a five-year long wait, the US Olympic Trials have finally arrived.
