With six weeks until the Olympic Games, the United States will begin selecting its Olympic team for the Tokyo Games on Sunday evening as the finals of the 400 IM and men&#8217;s 400 free will be held. The heats of the men&#8217;s 100 breaststroke and women&#8217;s 100 butterfly will also take place on Sunday morning.<\/p>\n<p>Unsurprisingly, 2012 Olympic gold medalist <strong>Ryan Lochte\u00a0<\/strong>scratched the 400 IM after being entered in the event on the psych sheet.<\/p>\n<p>Prelims will begin at 10 a.m. central standard time from Omaha, Nebraska and will be streamed on NBCOlympics.com.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/vmrw8k5h.tinifycdn.com\/results\/pdf\/2021-us-olympic-trials-wave-ii-day-one-prelims-heat-sheets-day-1-usa-senior-national-2021-06-13.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Heat Sheets<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/stream.nbcolympics.com\/swimming-us-trials-wave-2-day-1-prelims\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Live Stream<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.omegatiming.com\/2021\/us-olympic-team-trials-wave-ii-live-results\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Live Results<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Jay Litherland\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0<strong>Chase Kalisz\u00a0<\/strong>will look to repeat their 2016 performances in the 400 IM as they are the first and fourth seeds coming into the meet and have represented the United States at the last four international meets.<\/p>\n<p>29-year-old\u00a0<strong>Zane Grothe\u00a0<\/strong>is aiming to make his first Olympic team as the top seed in the 400 free ahead of short course American record holder\u00a0<strong>Kieran Smith<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>29-year-old <strong>Melanie Margalis\u00a0<\/strong>is in line to make her second Games as the top seed in the 400 IM while\u00a0<strong>Emma Weyant<\/strong>, <strong>Brooke Forde\u00a0<\/strong>and <strong>Madisyn Cox <\/strong>are aiming to make their first team.<\/p>\n<p>16-year-old\u00a0<strong>Claire Curzan\u00a0<\/strong>and 18-year-old\u00a0<strong>Torri Huske\u00a0<\/strong>are the top two seeds in the 100 butterfly, looking to unseat the medley relay butterflyer for the US since 2017 in defending Trials champ\u00a0<strong>Kelsi Dahlia<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The men&#8217;s 100 breast looks to be a toss-up with potential Olympic rookies\u00a0<strong>Andrew Wilson<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Michael Andrew\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0<strong>Nic Fink\u00a0<\/strong>as the favorites for that event, with 2016 Rio bronze medalist\u00a0<strong>Cody Miller\u00a0<\/strong>coming in as the third seed.<\/p>\n<p>Prelims will begin at 10 a.m. central standard time from Omaha, Nebraska and will be streamed on NBCOlympics.com.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>After a five-year long wait, the US Olympic Trials have finally arrived.
