It&#8217;s been really tough turning it round after selection trials, having a bit of a disappointing swim there, and Europeans also, more strong swims but outside the consideration time.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;So to come here and get it twice, with a pretty substantial PB yesterday, was really the icing on the cake. Third time&#8217;s a charm, isn&#8217;t it?!<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn all honesty, I didn&#8217;t come in with any expectations, I just came in with an open mind.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We&#8217;ve been in a bit of a difficult situation with training, do we taper, do we not taper, so I&#8217;m not exactly fully rested for this meet. I just came in and thought, &#8216;it&#8217;s my last shot, so I&#8217;m going to give it everything I have&#8217; &#8211; and it&#8217;s paid off.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><strong>Ed Mildred<\/strong> is one for Paris 2024, the Northampton swimmer having won three gold and two silver medals at the 2019 European Youth Olympic Festival.<\/p>\n<p>He won the men&#8217;s 200 fly in 1:58.00 ahead of <strong>Jay Lelliott<\/strong> (1:58.54) and <strong>Jacob Greenow<\/strong> (2:02.69).<\/p>\n<h3>Litchfield Takes It To The Max; both inside the previous national record.<\/p>\n<p>It was Dean who led at 50 with Kurle ahead at halfway when Scott made his move to turn first at 150.<\/p>\n<p>The <strong>University of Stirling<\/strong> swimmer came home in 1:46.02 ahead of Dean (1:46.46) with <strong>James Guy<\/strong> producing the fastest final 50 of 27.17 to take third in 1:46.49.<\/p>\n<p>Kurle&#8217;s time of 1:46.90 was also inside the cut to throw his hat in the ring for the relay.<\/p>\n<p>Scott &#8211; who shares a flat with Kurle &#8211; said:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cLook at that, that&#8217;s a world-class field right there. I&#8217;ve got to say a special mention to Cam Kurle.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;To go 1:46.6 at night, coming back, being in lane four of a heat like that and going 1:46.9, it would&#8217;ve been a PB if he didn&#8217;t swim last night. He&#8217;s a really good training partner as well.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt&#8217;s always a pleasure racing those boys, really honest efforts throughout the season. It&#8217;s a really good, competitive environment, which is what you need.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt&#8217;s really good to see. With it being a relay event as well, as much as we all are competing against each other, it makes it a special rivalry because we are teammates at the end of the day. I think that comes first, and then the rivalry comes second.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It&#8217;s a really positive place to be in and it has moved on in the last couple of years &#8211; Cam this morning, <strong>Joe Litchfield<\/strong> last night as well. Hopefully he&#8217;s given the selectors a bit of a headache.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><strong>Lucy Hope<\/strong> was a body-length clear at 100 in the women&#8217;s race with<strong> Freya Anderson<\/strong> tickling her toes before the Scot pulled away on the third 50.<\/p>\n<p>Come the last length and Anderson ate away into her deficit, closing with each stroke in the final metres but Hope &#8211;
