Klete Keller Discussing Plea Deal Over U.S. Capitol Insurrection Charges<\/strong><\/p>\n

Former Olympic swimmer Klete Keller<\/strong> is discussing the possibility of a plea bargain over his participation in the Jan. 6 insurrection at the U.S. Capitol.<\/p>\n

According to court filings from his latest appearance in U.S. District Court Washington, Keller and the prosecution has not reached a plea deal yet. However, according to Assistant U.S. Attorney Amanda<\/strong> Jawad<\/strong> in a motion to continue the case, \u201c\u201cThe parties have also begun discussing a potential resolution of this case and need more time to continue the discussions.\u201d U.S. District Judge Richard J. Leon,<\/strong> presiding over the case, in the motion encouraged the government to \u201cmove things along rapidly\u201d.<\/p>\n

During a remote hearing this afternoon, the assistant U.S. attorney handling the case told the judge the government hasn’t made a formal plea offer to Klete Keller, but one could come “relatively quickly.”<\/p>\n
