The top eight field is separated by less than a second as Texas A&amp;M&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Steven Richardson\u00a0<\/strong>(50.46), Tennessee&#8217;s <strong>Seth Bailey\u00a0<\/strong>(50.58) and\u00a0<strong>Connor Boyle\u00a0<\/strong>(50.58) are all within striking distance of garnering a second trip to Omaha next week.<\/p>\n<p>Indiana&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Jacob Steele\u00a0<\/strong>swam a 55.46 in the heats of the 100 backstroke, improving on his 55.5 seed time as he is the top seed ahead of Auburn commit <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/georgia-7a-state-champion-nate-stoffle-verbals-to-auburn-will-join-brother-in-2021\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Nathaniel Stoffle<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>(55.62) and 16-year-old <strong>Nate Germonperez\u00a0<\/strong>(55.77). Germonperez is not the only 2004-born swimmer in the final as 17-year-old\u00a0<strong>Joseph Hayburn\u00a0<\/strong>is seeded sixth overall at 55.90 behind North Carolina&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Tucker Burhans\u00a0<\/strong>(55.80) and Texas A&amp;M&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Ethan Gogulski\u00a0<\/strong>(55.83).<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/national-age-group-relay-record-holder-carl-bloebaum-sends-2022-verbal-to-virginia-tech\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Carl Bloebaum<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>of the Mason Manta Rays swam a 1:59.75 in the 200 butterfly heats, lowering his own best by about two tenths.
