fresh from his bronze medal in the individual 100 fly &#8211; and<strong> Duncan Scott<\/strong> &#8211; with a 46.92 anchor &#8211; took 1.85 off the record of 3:30.44 they set at Glasgow 2018.<\/p>\n<p>That was 0.49 outside the European record of 3:28.10 they set en-route to gold at the <strong>2019 World Championships<\/strong> in Gwangju.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Russia<\/strong> &#8211; with <strong>Kliment Kolesnikov<\/strong> 0.02 off <strong>Camille Lacourt<\/strong>&#8216;s European 100 back record in 52.13 &#8211; were second in 3:29.50 with <strong>Italy<\/strong> taking bronze in 3:29.93, a new national record.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Splits:<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>Greenbank: 53.64<\/p>\n<p>Peaty: 57.38<\/p>\n<p>Guy: 50.65<\/p>\n<p>Scott: 46.92<\/p>\n<p>Peaty won four golds in Budapest in the 50 and 100 breaststroke plus the mixed and men&#8217;s medley relays.<\/p>\n<p>He owns 16 European titles winning four at each championships at which he has competed in 2014, 2016, 2018 and 2021.<\/p>\n<p>In Tokyo, Peaty will seek to become only the second swimmer to defend the Olympic 100 breaststroke title after <strong>Kosuke Kitajima<\/strong>, who did the 100-200 double double in 2004 and 2008.<\/p>\n<p>Britain won silver in the medley relay at <strong>Rio 2016<\/strong> with Peaty splitting 56.59 and looking to the Games, he said:<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Very excited. I&#8217;m more excited for how the team is going to do at the Olympics. It&#8217;s all about fine-tuning now, regaining that energy.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;Weeks like this take a lot of energy out of you, so it&#8217;s how do I get that back, relax, but then push forward to the Olympics now?<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It&#8217;s really about fine-tuning, like you would a car.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;That&#8217;s what it&#8217;s all about, this time of year. We still have to look around at what they are doing and what they are doing.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;To be honest, we get the best performances when we think inside out rather than outside in. This is the end of the week, my ninth race, and as a sprinter who does 100m breast, that&#8217;s a lot of racing and I felt it down the back end tonight.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It&#8217;s some great swimming, I&#8217;ve never really been this fast in relays, never mind doing it without a proper taper or rest.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It&#8217;s looking v strong.
