He will race tonight alongside his brother\u00a0<strong>Jake Foster\u00a0<\/strong>(4:18.43) who should be closer in the final.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Men&#8217;s 400 IM World Rankings 2021:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>4:09.02,\u00a0<strong>Daiya Seto<\/strong>, JPN<\/li>\n<li>4:09.87,\u00a0<strong>Lewis Clareburt<\/strong>, NZL<\/li>\n<li>4:11.17,\u00a0<strong>Ilia Borodin<\/strong>, RUS<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #993300;\"><em>4:11.56,\u00a0<strong>Carson Foster<\/strong>, USA<\/em><\/span><\/li>\n<li>4:11.88,\u00a0<strong>Yuki Ikari<\/strong>, JPN<\/li>\n<li>4:12.03,\u00a0<strong>Wang Shun<\/strong>, CHN<\/li>\n<li>4:12.60,\u00a0<strong>Peter Bernek<\/strong>, HUN<\/li>\n<li>4:12.67,\u00a0<strong>Max Litchfield,\u00a0<\/strong>GBR<\/li>\n<li>4:12.95,\u00a0<strong>Brodie Williams<\/strong>, GBR<\/li>\n<li>4:12.98,\u00a0<strong>David Verraszto<\/strong>, HUN<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"YouTube video player\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/8RCumC-1R04\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><strong>Katie Ledecky<\/strong>, the reigning Olympic champ and world record holder in the 400 free, swam a routine 4:02.38 this morning as she was off her season best of 3:59 but she may have an opportunity to race under 4:00 tonight in the final.\u00a0<strong>Joanna Evans<\/strong>, swimming in her home pool, was a 4:12.19 for second seed as the Bahamian is trying to reach a 4:07.90 to make the FINA A standard and qualify for the Tokyo Olympics. She will have good competition around her in\u00a0<strong>Chloe Stepanek\u00a0<\/strong>(4:15.37),\u00a0<strong>Katie Drabot\u00a0<\/strong>(4:16.05) and\u00a0<strong>Morgan Tankersley\u00a0<\/strong>(4:18.75) in tonight&#8217;s final.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Shaine Casas<\/strong>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/shaine-casas-poised-to-step-into-spotlight-at-ncaa-championships\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">one of the rising stars<\/a> out of Texas A&amp;M, swam a 51.73 in the 100 butterfly which put him as the fourth fastest American this year in that event. Casas may shy away from the 100 fly in favor of the 200 back for Olympic Trials, but a 51.73 is still worth noting. He will race alongside\u00a0<strong>Angel Martinez\u00a0<\/strong>(52.68) and\u00a0<strong>Youssef Ramadan\u00a0<\/strong>(52.79) as they are chasing the FINA A standard of 51.96 to try and qualify for Tokyo for Mexico and Egypt, respectively.<\/p>\n<p>Reigning Olympic champ\u00a0<strong>Simone Manuel\u00a0<\/strong>swam a solid 54.03 in the 100 freestyle heats as her season best is a 53.3 which puts her at the top of the national leaderboard. She was ahead of\u00a0<strong>Katie Ledecky\u00a0<\/strong>in the 100 free heats as Ledecky was a 54.25.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Drew Kibler\u00a0<\/strong>swam a 49.49 in the 100 free heats as he is ahead of fellow Longhorns\u00a0<strong>Daniel Krueger\u00a0<\/strong>(49.59),\u00a0<strong>Maxime Rooney\u00a0<\/strong>(49.65) and\u00a0<strong>Townley Haas\u00a0<\/strong>(49.74) as it could take around a 48 to win the final.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Evie Pfeifer\u00a0<\/strong>is on top of the 400 IM field with a 4:41.60 ahead of\u00a0<strong>Madisyn Cox<\/strong> (4:45.53) and\u00a0<strong>Brooke Forde <\/strong>(4:47.23), while\u00a0<strong>Coby Carrozza\u00a0<\/strong>(3:52.18) is leading the men&#8217;s 400 free field and\u00a0<strong>Olivia Bray\u00a0<\/strong>is the top seed in the 100 butterfly (58.45).<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Longhorn Elite Prelims: Carson Foster Throws Down 4:11 400 IM;
